GS1100/1150 clutch hub in a GS1000?

Would anyone know if the inner clutch hub from a GS1100/1150, Part no. 21410-00A00 will fit in a 78 GS1000 clutch?
Just wondering as these hubs have the steel splines compared to the stock aluminium splines.

I think the later clutch hub is wider. Also, as far as I know, only the 1150 has the steel insert.

edit... I assume you mean non us 1150 when you say 1100... as in 1135.... sorry.

I had a US 1100 inner in my 1150 for a while. Slight differences visually, no steel insert. It worked fine.
When Philosipherian was doing his 78 thou, there were notes that he machined down (I think) an 1100 basket to fit the 1000.

The diameter of the hub is smaller on the 16V engines, but deeper. As mentioned the hub can be chopped down, losing plates in the process, but then you won't have quite as much grip as the original clutch.

if it is deeper, then it can be machined down to the same size as original, and it will still have the same amount of plates as it did before. But if it is narrower then that will cause a problem.

But... the 1100G/1100E/1150 do use smaller diameter clutch plates, so cutting down an 1100 basket to fit in a 1000 is downgrading the clutch holding force, but upgrading to a clutch basket that has heavy duty backing plate kits available for it... the 1000 does not.

Thats why i said a narrower diameter will cause a problem, although i am only looking at replacing the inner hub, not the basket. I have a 1000 basket with a heavy duty backing plate,springs and rivets.
Spoke to Roger Upperton earlier today and decided the upgrade is not worth the effort so gonna stick with the original hub now.
