GS1100 Help on identifing motor

Hey guys, I'm new to this site and looking for some help. I have a circle track dwarf racecar with a supposedly Suzuki 1100 motor in it. The motor has a stamped number of "U701-106687". I had a starter issue(the 3 allen bolts broke off in the rotor hub/ring gear) and when I was taken it apart, I mistakenly used a 3 finger puller to pull off the stator rotor hub, well, I unfortunately basically bent and ruin the hub taking it off, still beating myself up on this, should have known better. Anyways, I measured the threads on the hub(35mmX1.5) and order a Motion Pro Puller(part#08-0349). So I searched the country and found a supposedly used hub taken off a 1100 motor. When I received the hub, it was wrong, it was smaller in diameter(4.625") and had a smaller thread on the hub(30mm). I've call a lot of places and most people are telling me that all the 1100 take the same diameter rotor hub. My motor has the 2 bolt flange carb boots, so from the Suzuki website, it should not be a "E" motor but should be a GS1100G. I think its a 1982. The hub is held on with a nut instead of a bolt, so that rules out a GS1000. Please help me identify this motor and I'm looking for a replacement stator rotor hub. thanks for the help

It's a GS1100G.

Thanks, I assumed it was a 1982 GS1100G because I purchased carb boots, oil pan gasket, side cover gasket, oil screen and exhaust gaskets and it all fit. So do you think there was two different size stator/hub rotor combinations with the GS1100 from 1980 through 1982? One hub is around 5" diameter with 35mm threads for the puller tool and one smaller stator/hub combo which is 4.625" diameter and 30mm thread. thanks for the feed back.

Use the search function in the technical forums - or ask in the appropriate section. I suspect you're mixing 16V GS1100 specs with the 8V 1100G.

Welcome to GSR.

Photo of the engine does look like a 2 valve per cyclinder engine like on G (and not the 4 valve per cylinder like on E models).

But the carbs dont look like 1980 and after carbs (CV carbs that have a big diaphram on top) which would be on an 82 GS1100G. THe other choice would be the carb prior to 1980 (VM), but I dont really recognize those either in your pics from that top view. Could tell better from a side view.
Perchance those are the the pre 1980 carbs, maybe that is an 79 GS1000L engine.
(I have no specific experience to know about this nut/bolt situation you mentioned to rule out 1000)

And if that is a 79, .... then you will want to know that 79 had 12 pole stator rotor, then 80 and after had 18 pole (for higher output stator). I dont know what other differences as far as the measurement/specs you mentioned.

Speaking of G .. any G and GL will be a shaft drive... is your cart shaft drive...?

An 1100G and 1100GL engine will have 1074cc on the engine. (81 - 85) (G and GL are shaft drive)
An 1000L will have 997cc on the engine, and was 1979 only. (chain drive)

Bangor .... If you see Buffalo Bill postings, that will be Bill from New Buffalo.

Do find the various technical sections.

u701 is a 1982-84 1100g model engine prefix.
GK engine if rubber mounted.
1981 and earlier years the engine number start with the motorcycle model.
parts are easy to find for these.

Just to follow up, the engine is shaft drive, has the 2bolt flange style carb boots, the rotor hub is 5.125" O.D., 4.135" I.D. and 1.890" thick. The crank taper is .960" on the big end and .775" on the small end, and .615" O.D. on the threads. The stator has the wider 18 poles, 4.125" O.D. and the rotor hub has 12 attracked poles. The motor has 1074cm casted in the front of the block.

Since I bent the rotor hub and was looking for a replacement, my parts guy sent a hub claiming to be off a 1100 which is on the right and smaller, I'm wondering what he actually took it off from. The smaller and incorrect rotor hub is 4.625" O.D., 3.735" I.D. and 1.875" thick and has 12 attracked poles, however the taper is the same as the bigger rotor.

rotor sizes, the one on the left is correct, the one on the right is what the parts guys sent me, claiming to be off a 1100

block casting, assume this means its a 1100
