    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Gs1100 spindle size?

I guess I meant spanner; what size socket will fit. I just bought my first torque wrench (I've been wanting one for 40 years). I measured the nut with a ruler and figured 22 or 23mm; too small. I'll order a 24mm tonight. I just got back in the saddle after 24 years and I love buying little things for my Suzi.

Rob, welcome to the GS Resources. Pretty much everyone you'll meet here has started small and worked up. We like to encourage new members to do the same.

For you information, this section of the forum is for discussions about the forum itself. That is, how the forum is organized, how it is paid for, and how we keep it orderly.

Technical questions belong in one of the Technical forums. For spindle size, either Tires, Suspension and Brakes, or General Maintenance. Members who are good at repairs spend more time there, and you are more likely to find answers there. Searches for threads that answer particular questions work best when we discuss particular problems in the appropriate forums.

Wander through the forums for a few hours. You'll learn what belongs where. You'll also probably see some discussions of interest. And don't hesitate to use the Search function.

Tom

Rob,

Lots of folks here willing to help again, yet, more.

Would be better to post such technical questions in technical section, for two reasons.
1) tech section is where tech folks look for tech discussion.
2a) this "forum question" section is for questions about forumn itself
2b) since it is the very first section, sometimes some spam bots find their way in and post here, so some folks may not respond or even look here.
2c) several folks have mentioned this to you in other discussions. MAybe bye now some folks might suspect that "Rob S." is a spam-bot. (You and I have chatted, so I dont suspect such.)

How to get to "Tech" section?

How to get to "Tech" section?

How do I get to the "Tech" section? I have a bar that begins with "User CP" and ends with "Log Out".

I appreciate all the help.

Glad you were able to get back in the saddle Rob.

Click on the GS Badge on the top left of your screen. That carries you to the "home page". Scroll down that page and look at the different sub forums like "general", "featured", "technical", etc that are located in a darker blue bar. Under each of those are different topics. Just look around and click on different areas, you'll get the hang of it.

or (like others said)

click on the GSR emblem

in upper left corner. . . . . .

(NOte: most web pages you can click on the main emblem, usally upper left corner, to get back to main page.)

1) It seems that the OP has started this thread again in Tires, Suspension and Brakes. So it might be appropriate to delete this thread.

2) OTOH, it is very common for newbies to do the same thing, namely starting a tech thread in this forum. Might they mostly be only seeing a screen without the tech threads?

I don't recall ever seeing a forum opening page without a full listing of the sub-forums. Does anyone know how I would get to that page, just to check it out?

It might be that a small change in forum design would change such an opening screen so that newbies would see everything to start with.
