    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS1100 - what year bandit 1200 swingarm for conversion?

Looking to convert my 1980 GS1100ET to Bandit swingarm. I know this gets talked about a lot here and I have searched and read plenty. I was a bit confused as to what years Bandit 1200 swingarm works with the least amount of frame mods. I plan on retaining the dual shocks and adding shock tabs to the arm. Also, I plan on stretching the swing arm 4" to 6" over stock length. Does the Bandit swinger put the real axle in about the same place as stock? Perhaps I should be looking at other options since I am stretching? Would stretching the stocker allow a wider wheel? Any condensed info is appreciated and links to other related threads here and other websites are most welcome.

Mine is from a 97 Bandit. The expert on this is Katman. Do a google search for Rob Wilton (Stunt Man) it will bring you to his site. A lot of detailed info there.

The simple answer is any year oil cooled bandit 1200 swingarm will fit :D

That does sound simple.. um.. what years does that cover? :confused: I know 1997/98 fits. Is that 1997-2000? What year range do I set my scope for please? Gonna be doing eBay and used parts suppliers at first. Tempted to just get a ready to bolt on arm from Trac Dynamics. Another option is Thompson's Customs... although I am back to needing a Bandit arm again.
 
Here in the uk its pretty much the same arm (eg no changes that will affect what you are doing) from 97 to 2000 this i'm sure of :) later models i'm not sure of, exact models & years may differ slightly in the US but if you get an arm from somewhere in those years you wont have a problem

ANY year Bandit 1200 will fit, if what Tone stated is correct, since all B12's were oil cooled. When they bumped the Bandit upto 1250cc's last year, it got water cooling, too.
 
MotoCYCHO, the TRAC arm is a beautiful piece! I have one on my '81 1100E that I am building. It is 10" over, underbraced, 'air-in-arm', NOS bottle mount, and fits a Busa wheel with a 190mm tire.
If you get one from TRAC, make sure they get all the details, how long, type of shock mounts, how wide at back-eg; to fit a stock size tire or a bigger busa-sized tire, plus your options. They aren't cheap, but I think they are worth every penny!

I love that swingarm set up. I wanted to know what mods did you have to do to the frame were the swingarm pivot goes?

Hey Supavert! No mods to the swingarm pivot area, it bolted right in. But I do have to mod the frame where the chain runs. With the 6" 'Busa wheel/190mm tire out back, and a 5/8" offset front sprocket, the chain rubs the frame.
I haven't got around to clearancing the frame yet, but thats one of my many winter projects.
I hope to have the bike on the road this coming season.

It is the 'standard finish' (polish) arm, so it should be # ALM-51110-P. I'll see if I can find the reciept.
 
Hey supavert, I FINALLY found that reciept after weeks of turning my house upside down. But nothing special on the reciept, just part # ALM 51110 - SUZ GS1100 80-83.
 
Guess I am a little late on this one.

I have used bandits from '97-02. the benefit of a tracks over bandit is no brake plunger mods. Bolt on bandit arm is much cheaper than a trax.

This one (with extensions) will be for sale soon (once I get the R1 swingarm mounted)and is prob still cheaper than than a trax without underbracing
