A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Howdy, I just got in a pair of '80/81 GS1100E case savers from Chuck and decided to throw them on while I still had enough light. Also, forgive the typo "in" the title.

My '80 GS750e. I didn't do the color so keep it to yourself.....

Now, case savers on, looks pretty good. Took less than 15 minutes, once I got the right size sockets together(explanation below)

But not so fast! Thinking that the 80/81 750 and 1100 essentially share the same case, I figured(and in my defence, I am not alone in this) things should match right up...

I am not going to worry about that, If I go down hard enough to bend things I have other problems. There is also a pair of footpads that attach on the side of the bars, I will throw these on later; a little worried about heat though because there doesn't appear as though there will be a lot of room between my leg and the case. Maybe with my full-calf alpinestars on.

Some notes: I could not find the suggested 8 1.25 X 85mm bolts to mount at the front engine mount so I substituted two 5/16 x 3.5" bolts, and used 3 3/8 x 1 washers as spacers for the top mount. The 3.5" bolts are 1/2" too long. They threaded right in but I think I am going to throw a washer, lockwasher, and nut on each for a little extra piece of mind.

Thanks to Chuck Hahn for a great deal. ;)

HMMMM.... Can you take a flat piece of 1/8 inch thick flat steel and drill a hole to go to the engine mount and another to bolt trhu the hole on the case saver?? Make a retro fit kit so to speak.

That would be a simple fix if I had the tools, I was thinking about that and it shouldn't be all that difficult. Something for warmer weather.
