A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS1100G handlebar - where can I find one?

Hello,

I am planning to replace the high handlebar on my 1982 GS1100GK (fairing removed) with a GS1100G handlebar.

These handlebars seems to be be unavailable these days, tried eBay too.

Is anyone aware of a source of the OEM item or a close aftermarket match?

Thank you!

For what it's worth...

The early 850 and later 850 use different handlebars. With the later bike the seat is lower so the handlebars are too to maintain the same relative position. The late 850 and 1100G share the same chassis so I suspect the 1100 bars are lower than those on the early 850.

Thank you, I appreciate your input! I will reach out to Oldgsfan.

Thank you, Ed, I am looking for slightly lower, slightly narrower handlebar than what my GK has. I will measure my current ones to have a starting point.

Have a look at the Bikemaster bars. I've used the Daytona & the Euro bend with good success. Others have used the superbike. I currently use Daytona with a 3/4" spacer block under. I keep saying I'll try a set of the GP ones someday which may be about what you want from what you're saying.....

The 1000S clutch cable is a good way to get a shorter one. You will find that you can loop the extra brake like back by the headlight housing. :)
