A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Sorry for the cross post but this forum seems to get more traffice than the Parts Wanted Section.
I'm looking for the #4 carb for a GS1100GZ. Have a broken float pin mount from the PO:cry: . If I can't find one, I'll hack something together. There was a post on here about fixing these but I'm having some difficulty finding it.
Thanks.

Chip,

I thing some folks have successfully repaired or even fabricated the float pin tower with JB Weld..............

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks. I was hoping to use JB weld but it looks like that's not going to cut it. The break is right at the float pin hole and I don't have the piece because it was done by the PO. I'll figure something out. Gonna take them apart this morning.

get some round brass stock about the same diameter as the post is below the break PLUS allowing for some distance for a hole to be drilled in the center of the NEW post TOP that you will be be making and a pin to be fitted into the broken exsisting post, (you will have to cut and lower the top of the old broken post below the break and file it flat), drill a hole into the center of the new TOP of the post and the center of the shortened broken post, then fit a slightly over size pin (.003 in is fine) into both the new and old posts and tap them together, the brass pin will allow you to tweek the post slightly if necessary for alignment, shorten the total post height if you need to with a file. the pin can be made with a .070 dia brass rod chucked into a drill motor and lathed with a file to the proper diameter in this case .065 inches and the holes drilled into both posts with a .062 dia drill (1/16"). when you are satisfied that the post is the correct height and that it is straight, remove the new top of the post and drill the hole for the float pin. i can post pictures if you like.
if there is sufficient stock in the post a larger dia pin is fine also.

Thanks rust but it looks likes one of our members may come through with a carb body for me. Got my fingers and a whole lot more crossed.
