    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS250 engine

I just picked up what I was told was a gs450 engine, but I'm pretty sure it's a 250. Anyway the wiring harness is pretty much in pieces and I was wondering if someone has the diagram for it? I know I have the coils but I'm not sure about the voltage regulator/cdi box. I dont need lights or signals as this is going in an offroad vehicle, I just really need the electrics to start up the bike.

Should have the size stamped on it in the front somewhere. A site with wiring schematics on it has been posted a few times around here. I can't remember it off the top of my head though, see if a search pulls anything up.
 
My '81 GS450 has - "GS450 - XXXXX" stamped into the right hand side of the motor (where XXXX is the serial number).
 
Engine capacity is usually cast in the cylinders somewhere too.
 
Was there a GS 250? Weren't the only 250's GT's?
 
Yep! didn't/doesn't Queenie have one now? Think they may have only come to the US two years...
 
yup, it's a gs250, not sure about the GT or anything. It says gs25x on the side and 249cm3 on the front, took me alot of cleaning to see that. The whole engine is pretty nice looking on the inside, so hopefully after I get a cdi and the wiring figured out I can shoved it in a minibike or go kart.

I used to have one of those 250s a long time ago and I still have a manual for it somewhere with the wiring diagram. I'll try to scan it and send it on if you need it. Let me know.

Yes Queenie has two! the capacity is stamped into the cylinder block below the exhaust ports on the left hand side.
