DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does anyone know the right positioning of the carb insulators. There are raised metal lugs inside the aluminium housing and I can't work out which way they go.

Maybe someone else knows what you're referring to but a pic might help.

Been in that boat!

Been in that boat!

I had the same problem on my gs400. I broke down and called my mechanic. "They go on the bottom" was the simple reply. They have something to do with controlling unvaporized gas between the carbs and the engine. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Trouble is they can face left or right, any ideas which way please.

I think the isolators on the 400/425/450 are universal - no right or left.

The isolators are not universal, they can either face to the left or to the right depending on which side they are mounted.
They are the cast aluminium pieces between the rubber carb mountings and the head.

Just looked up the parts diagram to see what you are up against. My reference to "isolators" refer to the rubber parts Suzuki calls "Pipe, Intake". These do not have a right or left, thus my previous answer. The aluminum parts you are talking about are called "Insulator". My 450 did not have these so I've never seen them. My guess it that that they should be oriented such that when they are mounted to the head the intake pipes are parallel to each other so the carbs can slip straight on. Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks, these insulaotors with raised lugs on seem to be on later gs's as both manuals I have bought do not mention them fitment wise.

Seems no one knows the answer to my problem.Someone in 2003 had the same question but had no luck.I will try fitting them by trial and error and post the outcome to inform others.
Thank you to all who have tried.
