If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Gs450 top shock mounts

Good evening,
I need the help of you knowledgeable people regarding the top shock mountings on my GS450t.
I'm currently rebuilding and modifying the bike and notice the frame mountings are odd, the left hand side lug has an extra fixed spacer on the frame, around 10mm thick.
This is not on the right hand side, I could understand if there was a grab handle fitted to the right which would space it out to the same as the last, but the grab rail was fitted to both shock mounts?
Any ideas?

There was only one grab rail. On the other side, a rather special thick washer was added but you can build it up with thinner ones...I link a Parts diagram below for a T but the 450s are all the same, I think... the basic idea is that the ferrules of the shocks ride the thicker part of the frame mount lug and line up straight to the equivalent mounting bolt on the swingarm... this is more important than the number of washers which have different diameters and thicknesses noted in the actual list of parts...also, when setting the washers up, the bushing should not overlap onto the thinner part of the lug. Observe the cap screws as well. This limits how much they can be tightened on by intention..ie: you don't torque onto the bushings too tight
