A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone ever turbo one of these little bikes? wanting to try something funky.

be a 4-500cc size engine build. trying to decide on the rest of the induction system for the turbo. cv carbs, vm carbs, mech/efi

and then that will determine my exhaust system.

i have found a few audis and saabs in the junkyard with turbos that i can source from.

terry,
the 1000 is getting a built motor too. this is for the new race bike i am doing. i want the worlds fastest 400cc streetbike.:-\\\

Instead of looking for info on putting a turbo on a GS 400/425/450, look around at what has been done to the GS500. It is generally more of a modded engine (I'm guessing because the entire bike is readily available). There is at least one turbo charged GS500 on the GSTwins forum, and I found a super-charged GS500 on Custom Fighters (although it wasn't finished online).

You make it painfully obvious that you don't know ANYTHING about turbos. :-k

You need to match the size of the turbo to the size of the engine. Those Audis and Saabs have engines that are 5 to 6 times larger than the bike you are trying to victimize. The bike won't have enough 'oomph' to even spin the turbine, let alone spin it fast enough to develop some pressure on the compressor side.

If you really want "the world's fastest 400", first of all, start with a 400, not a 450, then find a turbo that is properly sized for that engine.

Good luck, post pictures.

"I think it could be worth a try just to see how a compact turbo twin would mock up in a motorcycle chassis...it would be cool if it ended up weighing like a 250 but accelerating like a 1000."

Kevin Cameron, "Engine Downsizing" in Cycle World September 2014.

about this size should be plenty big enough........ ;)

How about this one?

Honda cx500 turbo, look it up :)
These are a possible turbo that would be suitable.

OR get a supercharger from a modern seadoo.
