Here is what I have observed:
Just like Snark's 450L (although mine's an '87), the bike's idle speed moves up slowly the longer the bike is on. Tach reads at 800 at start (when we're at normal north Florida temps-- more on this in a second), after about 7-10 minutes it's up around 1200.
Bike was idling when warmed up at 1500 or so and having a slight miss on idle AFTER it was warmed up (a cough every 15-30 seconds but only when idling and only after the first five to six minutes of operation)-- turned idle adjustment screw down and the miss is much better, but it's still coughing now and again at a stoplight.
Recently the temps have been right around 60 in the morning (in north Florida, fall can never come soon enough). She has been having some troubles staying running on the morning drive. I'm a new rider, I suppose I could still be too ambitious in trying to wean her off the choke bit by bit but ASAP, I'm leaving it full open for the first 30-45 seconds (otherwise it dies) and down to 50% at driveoff, then I'm trying to get her weaned off by three or four minutes in.
This morning I was having to keep the throttle slightly open at stoplights for the entirety of my 12-minute commute just to keep her from dying (and when still cold, the bike will suddenly go from 1300 to 3000 with the exact same throttle position if you wait long enough). After that, the bike is basically OK all day long until the next morning... but it *does* exhibit the slow idle speed at the beginning.
Terrified what's gonna happen when it's December and it's 30 or 40 outside. Anyway-- O-rings are my first target to nail all this down when I take this to the shop. The dealer also suggested the spark plug boots for the coughing. What else should I be looking at?
