I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I've noticed that gs500's have a 74mm bore steel head gasket. Looking at buying one of these and boring it the extra 4mm for my project instead of ordering from cometic or making my own.

I'd like to know what the bore diameter of the head gasket realy is.

And what the bore diameter of the base gasket is.

thanks

Mine would be $57 for a coper head gasket from cometic and $27 for the coper base gasket. They only ship ups!! So add another $100 when it gets to my door!

Oh and i hate ups!

The gs500 used steel gaskets for the base and head stock so I don't see why not.

It does use 4 coper washers for the oil channels around the studs but that's no biggie.

Base gaskets are $7 and i need 3. I have one on order just to see what size it is.
I would have used the GR650 base gasket but they are the same price as 3 gs500 gaskets.

Head gaskets are $27 and id need just one.

I could buy them locally and have it in a few days.

I was just looking for exact specs to know if it would work better than the way i was going.

If i do have to order from cometic, Ray will help me out with shipping.

For inquiring minds.

The base gasket for a gs500 is 0.010" and has a bore of 82mm.

It is steel and looks like this:

Its half the thickness of the stock 400 and 450 base gasket.
