A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys I posted here a few weeks ago about my 82 gs550 that wasn't running past 4k rpm well I was WAY over jetted on the poilet jets, stock pilots are 40 I wanted to go up to 44 but the shop gave me 50s and my dumb a** didn't look before I stuck them in an the bike had no power at all above 4k so now I'm back to stock pilots and bike pulls hard to 8k then breaks up but still pulls (problem only occurs in 1-2nd gear pulls hard to redline in 3rd)I'm running straight pipes with baffles and right now no air filters (yes I'm going to get those) my problem is the bike is STILL fouling plugs I even went to 1 degree hotter plug and back to the stock main jets as well and I can put new plugs in and one ride around the block and they are BLACK. So right now I'm actually 2 sizes below stock mains and the bike still produces black plugs, before everyone starts saying it's the lack of filters shouldn't that make my bike run leaner not richer?! Should I drop down to an 87.5 main? (Stock is 92.5) has anyone seen this? I checked timing at the ignition and even at the cam as everything is in spec with the book, I'm an ex suzuki/Kawi tech and I'm at a loss here this is driving me nuts to the point that I'm ready to unload the bike. I know I need filters but I'm probably going to run oldskool stockings, bike is just a local bar hopper not a serious rider any ideas why my bike is running rich with lower then stock mains? Thanks for the serious replys

One depressingly common hack you find is drilled jets... can you get some magnification on those jets and see if they look like some orangutan has hogged them out?

Another issue that comes to mind is the enrichener (AKA "choke") is being activated or is leaking somehow.

Rubber plugs still in the carbs in the right place?

Just throwing out some ideas...

Yea the jets are BRANDNEW I've had these carbs apart like 5x I'm getting extremely frustrated. I've never in my life seen a bike running RICHER with exhaust/intake mods (99% of my training is with f.i so a power commander and computer solves the prob) anyway the jets are new I'm now 2 sizes below factory on mains and I'm stock on pilots and needles (non adjustable) and still fouling plugs and breaking up at 8-10k rpm. Choke is closed also. Only thing I can think is maybe my coils arnt putting out the correct spark at high rpm? I checked timing at ingntion and on cam and it's inspect at idle and at rev while bike is parked

How can I post pics? I put brand new plug in today b7es (1 degree hotter then stock) let the bike IDLE for litterally 30 sec an it's black already
