A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Keep an eye on it during your first run, I think you would be better off using a higher temperature polymer than polylactic-acid.

Bike looks great by the way, following with interest :)

I have my worries but am interested to see how this PLA will hold up.

My used headlight came in yesterday. It is from a 1981 gs650 from what I was told. Got a good deal on a complete light with no damage. The rust spots are not an issue as I will be powdercoating it black.

Didn't have much time to work on the bike this past couple of weeks. Managed to install the new stator and put on the cover.

The battery came in as well. Pretty crazy to think it only weight 1.46 Lbs (0.66 kg) and puts out 210 CCA. Amazon.com has them for just $130.

Been MIA for a little while with another project.

Snuck a quick revival of a 1978 BMW R80/7. Had to do a huge amount of work but kept it mostly original an uncut. Just waiting on the an electronic ignition for it and its ready for the final dialing of timing and carb sync.

Full build thread can be found here:
http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?82613-My-New-to-me-R80-7

Here is the final product. (Better pictures coming soon)

While waiting for the ignition I finished the engine and put it in the de-tabbed frame. Mocking up the rear sets from the 2007 GSXR1000. Almost a direct fit on the gear shift, just need to weld in one threaded tube. The splines are the same and the sifter rod is pretty much the correct length. The rear brake side will use an adapter plate bolted to existing threads on the frame (missing the picture).

Mocking up the frame. Need to mount the rear sets, modify a steering stopper and make an electronics tray. I'll also clean up some of the ugly Suzuki welds and it is ready for powdercoat. I will attempt to make a seat pan as well.

Looks awesome man! I am powdercoating several of my motor covers as well. Looking forward to see how to mount that battery/electronics tray...

Thank you!

I hope to get to the electronics tray and battery mounting done next week. Hoping to get a nice clean look so it can't be seen from the side.

Today's project. Found some round tube and threaded it to m10 1.25. Drilled out the rear set mounts to fit m10 bolts. Bolted it on and TIG welded to the frame.

Been Busy with another project. But this one is not dead and I plan to get it finished up by the end of the year.

Got the hoop welded up and added a piece of the gusset back in to give it a cleaner line.
