A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS650L or 850L tank?

I got a 650GL and the tabs ARE different. See in the picture how the tabs kinda roll over to the side. Yea, I don't have those. Hope this helps.

Let me know if you need a picture of mine. :D

GS650GL Tabs

I just checked my 1981 GS650GL and the tabs are significantly different than the eBay tank you linked to. My tank has basically two half-circles out from the tank, and do not have the bent-over sides. With that bend-over, the tank would not fit as the bent edges would not allow the tank to seat down on the cross-bar it bolts to. Hope that helps.

Interesting. Mine has flat tabs on it as well. I am not sure where the bends on the side of the tabs are coming from. I will have to ask the seller some questions. Thanks guys!

OK, let me see if I can make this easy. :-s

I have an '82 650L and an '82 850L sitting right here. \\:D/

Measure the distance between the mounting bolts. The 650 is about 4.25 inches, the 850 is about 5.1 inches.

.

Not to intrude, but are you looking for an 850L tank??
If so, I have an extra tank. It needs to be restored internally, the last owner used the Kreem method and the coating is peeling. If interested, let me know. :-D

Not really. I have two already. One is on my bike and has a few dings. The other is being stripped and cleaned internally. My nephew has some stuff at work that they use to coat the inside of aircraft tanks; he is going to coat it with that when he gets all of the old crud out of it. I just saw this one and was watching it, if it doesn't go for too much I was considering buying it to see if anyone needed it here. Thanks though!

Hmmmm, the seller says that the rear holes are 3.5 inches center to center. This has got to be a 550 or smaller tank. Anyone have some confirmation?
