    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS750 Oil Pump Gears

I am considering installing some 750 oil pump gears in my new project, a '78 GS1000, bored to 1085, ported head, VM29's, aftermarket cams. The questions are: from which model 750 do I get the gears from? Is it just a straight replacement, i.e. take out my gears and put the new ones on? What all else do I need to do? I know I will get an increase in oil flow volume, but will the oil pressure also be increased? If so, by how much? Any other mods I need to do to the engine to compensate for the change?
 
There from the same year as ure im pretty sure. Cant go wrong as the gears are phyically larger/smaller than yours. Have u seen the GS1000st parts book post ive done on here.

You can use the gears from the 8-valve 750 motor or from the 16-valve 750 motor from 1980 through 1982. You must use a set, not just one gear.

May notice a small increase in pressure, it is more about volume though. Is particulaly useful if you intend to run an oil cooler and or a topend oiler kit.

You say set? From the pic (And where i've peered in my clutch) I can only see the large 33T one in mine? Am I missing something here??
 
One gear is attached behind the clutch, the other is on the oil pump shaft.

You got OEM 750 pump gears in some fancy Schnitz packaging is what you got... ;)

Bruce, it doesnt matter. The ratio on the 8v 750 and the 16v 750 is the same. There is a difference in LOOK (casting marks are a little different) but they make no difference whatsoever. I have both, have used both, no difference.

On the other side of this, are you sure they're any different than the 1000s?? Im not sure on that myself...
