GS750E - Signal Question....Stupid (likely)

I am trying to locate my information on the mod I did. I have wire colors and everything spelled out. Give me a little time and I'll come up with it.

I understand why you'd want additional lighting in the back but why would you would you want rear facing amber (illegal)?

Safety.... had these on all my bikes years ago. There was company in the 80's (SoundOff Safety Systems I believe) that sold a circuit device that accomplished this, and also made the rear blinkers flash a few times as brake lights, think they are out of business now. There are others on the market now, but I'm to cheap in my mid life crisis to fork over the $69..... amber on the back is illegal, but I never in the past had an issue getting pulled over. I think most COPS would be glad just to see the extra lighting. added bonus IMO..... night riding. Most folks are not used to seeing amber at night on the back.... stands right out!!!

I'll sit and wait patiently with th eothers that are interested in your wiring mod. I don't get why something like this should have to be a mod... I mean gee... they want us to be seen and not putting enough running lights seems kind of counter productive :?

Are you saying that flashing amber on the rear of a vehicle is legal and steady-on amber is not? I have a 1986 VW Jetta that has amber turn signals on the rear.

There is a company called Backoff that manufactures one like you described. They are available from J&P Cycles.

Correct, in MI anyway. My Nissan Maxima has rear amber signals as well. But not constant running.

If you could find some red lenses for the rear, the same mod could be done for the rear. The relays could be located under the left side cover.

how about "this wire goes here this wire goes there " I have an 85 GS700E that I would like to change the lights out to the triumph lights that I have, but the triumph lights are all single filiment bulbs ( I have all four).


I can wire stuff , I just have always had a hell of a time reading schematics

OK, I'll try...

On my GS1100GLD, the original front signal lights were dual filament. The gray wire in the headlight bucket was used as the running light circuit. It supplied power for the running lights. The black wire and the green wire are the turn signal circuit feeds for the left and right respectively. What I am accomplishing here is using the gray circuit as power for the single filament turn signal/running lights. The black and green circuit wires are used to feed the power to the turn signal filaments of each side. They are now being used as the signal to operate the relay coils. One should note that the relays are wired so that the normally closed contact of the relay is used. This will provide power to the lights constantly as long as the turn signal circuit is idle. When the turn signal is activated, the relay activates, turning the light off. If one was to observe the front and the rear signals, they would see that when the front signal light is on, the rear is off and vice versa. The other side of the lamp and the relay coil is connected to ground. This is usually a blk/wht wire color on these bikes.
