DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I disassembled my starter motor and found out that OEM replacement parts are insanely expensive.
The motor is a Mitsuba SM-8224 and the only repair kit I could find is one that fits the abundant SM-13 starter motor which many modern bikes have :

The SM-13 is a different motor that probably shares these maintenance components but I wonder if it or any other abundant motor can be used instead of the rare SM-8224 for the GSX750ES/GS750ES ...

I'm doing research on your 1985 GS750ES/EF and man, do I like both models. The EF has the full fairing covering the entire engine bay while the ES exposes the beautiful engine and pipes.

I'd also looked on three sites for a "Starter" but I do not see your year/model posted:

http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm?q=suzuki-bike-parts

http://www.partsoutlaw.com/oemparts/index

http://www.suzukipartshouse.com/

Also, I don't see the entire assembly offered and the "Armature" isn't even listed as available for the 700E/700ES. (I don't see a 750 listed)

I just researched a new Starter for my bike which was $434.00. If it was me, I'd buy a new OEM starter but I have a spare one on my parts bike.

Have you posted a pic of your bike? I'd like to see the color and current condition. I don't judge too harshly...lol.

There are businesses that specialize in starters and alternators. When my starter failed I pulled it apart, checked everything out then had the guy solder new carbon brushes. I cleaned everything in my ultrasonic cleaner greased everything then re-assembled. Its been working perfect for the last year. It's not that hard.

I work 4 years on my GSX750 with a sick attention to details and with all parts suffering from minimal wear being replaced with new.
I'll post the entire restoration as a project when I'm done but I can release some spoiler pictures :

As for the starter kit I noticed that many of the Mitsuba starters share the same component with my Mitsuba SM-8224 except for the direction of the brushes this can be resolved by taking the new brushes and soldering them my original mini board.
These kits however are utterly the same :

I have used kits from Stocker several times. No problems (yet), I will continue to use them until somebody shows me something better (not likely).
