Gs850 + boost?

Thanks steve, we both have pretty extensive experience with turbocharged cars, we're just bored with cars now and want to move on to something faster. The T25 turbo is a Nissan Turbo I don't really know the exact specs on it but I can get them, it is very small

My somewhat limited experience with a turbo involved a '74 Toyota Corolla, 1.6 engine, 8.5:1, forged Arias pistons .030 over, stock everything else. Custom header to turbo, 2.5" exhaust to the bumper. 22 psi boost
eek.gif
, and did it all on 87 octane. :encouragement:

A guy I went to school with for a career change was trying to install a turbo on a resto-mod car. Could not convince him that a turbo for a 350 would not work on a 305, but he insisted on doing it. He was very disappointed with the results, I did not have the heart to say "I told you so."

.

its sad that I asked a legitimate question and I get a bunch of sarcastic answers. why ruin a thread with ignorance. ohh well lets all act like ass holes because someone asks a legitimate question that we don't like. I didn't ask for an opinion when I do youll know it.

I'm taking bets on the first part to break with an estimated 120bhp going through a 30 year old driveline that's already done a bunch of miles. Look up the maximum HP that Suzuki felt was safe to put through the shaft drive system, on the GS1100G for example.
The later GSX1100G was only shoving 100bhp through it, and a mere 73ft/lb of torque - sure, the engineering can take more, as Suzuki owners know, but for how long is a tired old shopping trolley going to last before the Big Bang?

I thought the advice I gave you was quite sound, actually. There's nothing worse than having to retrace your steps with a brush and shovel, then getting a bill from the county for road clean-up.

Okay, here's a serious reply

All the G models have a wear issue with the splines in the rear wheel. I'd replace that, regardless of how it looks.
Then, U joints and the carrier/output shaft
Then, the outer clutch basket should get welded up
Crankshaft? Hard to know whether these were beefed up, as 850s rarely gain more than 10 HP from stock, and so I doubt that there's much data on that.

As all of these other jokers have mentioned, the 850 is an odd bike to turbo. So, start a build thread on it.

Also back to your original question:
So what would be some weak points to check/ beef up? Clutch? Oil pump?
Be aware that the 850 is low-pressure oiling system. It is high-flow, low-pressure to handle the roller bearings.
When first started, oil pressure might be as high as 10. Warmed up and going down the road, typically about 3 or 4 psi.
Will the turbo in question survive that?

Also keep in mind that re-routing some oil to send it through the turbo will reduce flow to the rest of the engine.
Will the engine in question survive that?

.

If the 850 is like the 1100 you can get a distribution block from mr turbo which will feed oil via the oil pressure sending unit area. However, the old kirs used Rajays, which operate at 30-60 lbs of pressure. You would need to verify the needed pressure for your turbo and get the appropriate reducer to meet the pressure needs of your turbo. Of course this is only if the it has the same oil pressure sending unit set up as an 1100.

Can't you see? :-k

The super-sticky tires are holding it to the wall, he is standing right next to it at a comfortable working height. :-\\\

Ohhhhh.... I didn't figure on him wearing super-sticky shoes, too.

well...if y'all have a good amount of experience futzin with turbo cars....why deal with carbs then? go EFI and custom manifolds and stuff....at least then you can control fuel and timing and be able to dial it in easier.

Ok so are there ways of upping the oil pressure? And about the drive train issues thats what i wanted to hear about especially the welding of the clutch basket. Anyone have pics of that
