All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

You CAN sell it to somebody in Maine, and have them register it (which will require insurance) sell it bacK TO YOU. That is what the title services I have tried did. Or see what your local DMV requires to register a vehicle with no title.

Agree. In VT all you need is a bill of sale to register a vehicle that is 15 years or older and 400cc and larger. My Bandit needed a title to register. My GS's didn't for they were over 15 years old. I bought a 2008 Moped a couple years back and didn't need a title for it was smaller than 400cc.

Check your registration laws. You might be going through a headache for nothing...

Hey all thanks for all the good ideas.

I did look into my local regulations and they're pretty strict here in DC. I do have an uncle up in NH that I've been talking to about doing a "work around" job like a titling service would.

Has anyone on here used ITS recently? I did some internet recon and it looks like they were dropped by the BBB recently and they have a lot of complaints against them. Not very confidence inspiring to say the least.

Thanks again, Sam

I found the original owner and he's really nice and going to get a duplicate title for me:dancing:

wow, lucky. i remember on another forum a guy bought a bike w/o a title and managed to track down the original title owner's son and then find the father and get a new title. crazy what you can do on the internet, especially with some time.

We love to hear a happy ending. ;)

Got it

Got it

So after many phone calls I found the original owner of my bike and he was willing to go through the painful process of applying for a lost title in WV. He was in and out of the hospital as well so it ended up taking 3 months, nicest guy ever! I got the title last week, got the bike registered in my name and have been commuting to work on it since.

Here is a list of what I did while I was waiting for the title, thanks to the info I found here:
-cleaned/rebuilt carbs (cycleorings.com)
-rebuilt fuel petcock
-new points, condensers and plugs
-sealed my airbox
-changed all oils and filters
-lubed all cables
-installed new Shinko 230 Tour Master (with 3 tire irons and a 5 gallon bucket)
-adjusted valves/replaced valve cover gasket
-new clutch springs

To Do:
-Use the stator papers to chase down a charging issue that just became evident
-Replace seat cover

Thanks for all the help on this site!

-Sam
