A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS850 headlight brackets.

Hi all,
I am removing the fairing and bags on my new GS850, and returning it to more of a stock look. I have collected almost all of the parts, but have a question about the headlight brackets. I can't figure out which is left and right from the parts diagram or the pictures I could find. One leg is slightly shorter than the other, I would like to know if the shorter leg goes up or down?

Oh, anyone looking for a Vetter Quicksilver fairing and Krauser bags?
Thanks for looking!

I found the answer, the shorter leg goes up. Unfortunately, there appears to be more than one possible sets of brackets depending on if you have the chrome headlight or the larger black one. One set has a gap of 6", the other 8". I have the black one, my brackets turned out to be chrome that someone painted black. Fabbed up an "L" bracket so I could use them, I will fix it later during the 9 months of rain in Seattle.
