If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

for start I m sorry about any mistakes-I am from Greece and my english are not very good-Iam trying though!
the 4-2 original exhaust system my 850 wears is very rusty.I did a search in most internet parts sellers(dennis kirk, bikebandit, etc.)and I found only Vance & Hines, Jardine, and Mac, mostly 4-1 systems.I m looking for any opinions on that...
This search I did left me also wondering about why can't I find any KERKER ? I thought I had seen one of these on a GS1000 or 850 some y
ears ago...
To be honest I m thinking of Vance&Hines because they look very beautifull. But are they good??So, has anyone any of these brands on a big GS? please hurry, my fat girl needs to roll again...

Going to a 4 into 1 system will mean doing some carb jetting and possibly airbox mods. Rejetting and rebalancing four carbs is a pain in the neck, IMHO. I would look into replacement mufflers for the stock down tubes (cheapest) or an aftermarket 4 into 2 exhaust that is close to the original equipment.

Thanks IAN..

Thanks IAN..

Thank you Ian-I m aware of the re-jetting needs when putting a 4-1 but I maybe give it a try.The problem is that I didn't find any original mufflers--for example checked the BIKEBANDIT and they were DISCONTINUED.The other thing is that i asked my local suzuki part dealer here in Athens and he said that IF there is any original mufflers they come as one piece-muffler & one pipe-150 euros(125$) each. That's over 350-400 $ for the whole set incl. the other muffler-pipe & the 2 other pipes.

Did a Google search for "gs850 4 into 2 exhaust" and found this:

Mac 4 into 2 turnout $275 USD

http://www.motorcycle-exhaust.com/M...&Store_Code=motoexhuast&Product_Code=PU030308

Not cheap though! another site had the same thing for over $400 USD

If you want to save money you might be able to find aftermarket mufflers to fit your downpipes, either 4 into 4 or maybe 4 into 2. I see on bike bandit that the original discontinued mufflers contained the 4 into two plumbing and that the downpipes are four separate pipes.

Google search for "gs850 exhaust". Many results found.

Best wishes and good luck

If the head pipes are OK you can cut the old muffler off & use a universal
replacement. If it was mine I would look for something like this
www.jcwmotorcycle.com ITEM AGS017566B or AGS17567P

I'm using that line next time my 850 has a problem!

I there anything left of the original exhaust system, or is it all too corroded to use?

Some people have welded on Harley-Davidson mufflers, but you need solid pipes. Since 99% of Hardley-Ableson riders immediately replace the stock exhaust with a noisy aftermarket exhaust, there are lots of these available cheap or free. I'm not sure if you have the same situation in Greece, but it's a thought.

If you can spend the money, any of the aftermarket exhausts will work. It's not really clear if the Mac 4/2 system uses fiberglass or steel baffles. I think it's steel baffles, since it's "turnout" style and not "megaphone." The steel baffles will give a harsher, tinny sound, but they don't require maintenance.
