DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GSX engine in a GS frame?

Spiff

Forum Mentor
Simple straight forward swap or is it more to it?

I'm guessing new engine mounts need to be fabbed?

I might have a deal going on a cheap 84 or 85' gsx1100.... Want the GS1000 or 1100 engine but they're not easy to come by here and especially not one with a chain drive so looking in to this as an alternative....

If you mean the 1135 motor into the 1074 chassis then it's a straight swap - same engine mounts.

You need different bottom motor mounts if you are putting an 1135 or 1074 motor in a 750 chassis.

Yeah its a 78 GS750E, sorry 'bout that.

Donor would be a 1985 GSX1100

It might be easier to put an old air/oil cooled 87 to 90 GSXR1100 motor in it they are a lot smaller and lighter Bandit 1200 motors can be bought for around $1000 to $400 depending on condition

It's do-able. Quick and dirty way is just to not run the under crankcase mounts. If you've got the time it's quite easy to fab up new ones though.

Actually I'm not running the under crankcase mounts now as I couldn't find the correct bolts

But the front and rear mounts line up?

What's heaviest of the 8v or the 16v?

The 8v 1000 is a straight bolt-in affair?

8 valve motor is lighter than the 16 valve
