A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello, I am a newbie from Hong Kong.
I have a wrecked 88 oil-cooled gsx-r 750. Other than the front and rear
end, is it possible to put the oil cooler on to my 82 gsx1100sz Katana?
Some mates said that these 2 bikes have different oil pressure and
there will be problem if I use the GSX-R type oil cooler.
Anyone can help?

You can use it. The oil cooler you use does not matter as long as it provides the cooling capacity you need, and you use quality hoses that do not expand when the oil temperature increases - that would cause an excessive oil pressure drop. I use a cooler off a Buell XB12 so you can use what you have available.

You should consider an oil thermostat.

Thank you for your quick replies.
I got the GS1150 filter cover (16531-00A00?) already.
Some of you also swap the 750s oil pump gears to increase the flow.
Here is what I copied from a post about the parts needed for swap:
1. Driven Oil Pump Gear 16331-45000
2. Gear Oil Pump drive 16321-45002
3. Spacer 16325-45001
4. Bearing 09263-36002

Do I need ALL of the above, or just Some of them, or anything else?

Unless you have done any oil system mods like take-offs that go directly to teh cylinder heads or your bike is heavily modified, there should not be a reason to run those 750 gears. Oil coolers wil not effect pressure enough (IMHO) to warrent the other problems that 750 gears can cause.
