    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GSX750ES front sub frame

My GSX750ES is now laid on the floor split into gazillion parts.
Steel parts will be sent to sand blasting and powder coating.
I noticed that the front sub frame is not symmetrical. Is this deliberate ?
The bike was in one piece and everything was straight.
Assuming it got a blow and now I need to straighten it, should I make it symmetrical while keeping the same gap for the headlamp ?
 
I don't think it's deliberate. Looks bent but it's hard to tell for sure. How does the fairing line up on those two legs? You should be able to lay the frame inside the fairing with the parts off the frame to check.

I have no idea how it was aligned when put on the bike. I bought the bike and immediately dismantled it. There is a possibility that although it's bent it will fit. It's a very flexible steel part.
 
The fairing stays have a habit of getting bent from drops and stuff. Between checking it with the mounting points on the frame and how the fairing mounts to it you should be able to straighten it up.

BTW I'm only asking questions and not contributing nice photos to the forum at this stage but this is about to change soon as thing are going to come back from the various shops and part will arrive via mail. I'll do it in one big thread as the project will be finalized. The professional attitude I see in this forum really inspires me and I hope you'll enjoy to see outcome of my restoration:-)
