A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GSXR 1100 and GSXR 750 front end build for GS 1000

I decided to "upgrade" my GS 1000 XP to first generation GSXR wheels (http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=170151&page=2).
There was no good reason except that I saw an 1100 Kat with these triple double spoke wheels and I liked the look:)
For the rear there is no issue interchanging first gen and 2nd gen GSXR wheels ( except the rear disk that measures 220 mm)
I was fortunate enough to find a 18*4 inch wheel that is quite rare over here as they are used by classic racers.
For the front, I bought a GSXR 1100 G ( 1986) front fork.
The model year is important as the spindle measures 15 mm (The later years were upgraded to 17 mm).
After purchasing an 18" front wheel with a 15 mm spindle, I went for some calipers and that's where the issues started:rolleyes:
While the calipers ( sold as a GSXR 1100 model...) would mount on the fork, it proved impossible to mount the 310 mm GSXR 1100 disks.
Luckily, I had measured before purchasing the disks;)
The available space allowed 300 mm disks.
This size was actually fitted to the original GSXR 750 F from 1985!
After some hesitation, I bought a 300 mm disk from MGI Metal gear and hurray it all fits.
Here are some pictures: my set-up first, a GSXR 750 original second and last a GSXR 1100

I'm running the same front end on my 80 gs1100. Did you connect the anti dive electrical connections? If so, where? I don't know what to do with mine.

I haven't done it yet but I looked at the circuit diagram and it works as follows:
The antidive goes to the switched +12V through a relay.
The relay is activated by the front stop switch.
To avoid actuating the antidive by the rear brake switch there is a diode in series from the line going from the front switch to the stop light circuit.
Hope it's clear enough?
