    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i have a gs1000 hc with the flat type handlebars, i want to try and change them for something higher so i will have a more upright riding position,also i will need to change all the cables, any suggestions to what type of bars would suit
 
Not sure what you are looking for but I bet you could scratch up a pair of stock L model bars from the classifieds area here.

A lot of us run with these, as they are a little higher than straight bars, but have a better riding position than the original wheelbarrow-style bars on the early GSes.

I got some Renthall superbikes in mine lovelly with Gs1000s fairing
 
until last week I had them flat "drag" bars on my ole GS750, my arms were in noticable pain after each ride......

I recently obtained a new set of bars with a 3 inch rise for AU$30, they are soooo comfortable when compared to the drag bars, It makes me wonder how I tolerated it for so long!!!

It is honestly just like riding a new bike!

Yep planning on getting rid of the racer bar to. Back, arms and neck cant hack it. Anyone know if there is something similar to these 'L' type handle bars? Or get me some measurements to go by? Right now i'm looking at the buckhorn bars from OBB.

I, like the origional poster am looking for a more upright 'cruser' position. Being 5' 11" hunch over on my 750 isnt very enjoyable. Hopefully the bars will change that.

I am 6' exactly, I just got my new bars from my local bike wrecker (breaker / scrapper etc), he had them on the wall for AU$30 and after discussing my flat bars, he said to just take em and try em and return em if I didnt like them. Within minutes of my first ride with them on, the bike felt totally different, and my arms did too! My bike is now a total pleasure to ride!

I have an L bike and don't recommend their bars. If you want to keep them Suzuki GS brand, go with the G or E bars. Your choice should be personal, depending on how far up from the triple trees, how much pull back, and how wide apart you want to be.

I say go to your local bone yard and check out everything thay have to see what you like. If you don't buy any from them cause they're rusty or not good quality, at least you'll know the dimensions so you can order them.
 
I have a stock set of G's I could be persuaded to part with.

I changed them mainly cause they "tweeked" my wrists. I also get a lot more feedback through the Euro's.

I bought some new bars for my L from CRC (http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/Index_Main_Frame.htm) I bought the "Honda GL1100 replica.........................34.95" bars. I measured the current bars and then went out and pretended I had new bars in the ideal position to compare measurements. These were the closest I found to what I wanted (The most upright seating position). I rode with them for the first time this past weekend for 30 miles, and I felt completely comfortable. Theres a VERY minor wrist tweak to the outside, but it didnt bother me.
