DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I apologize but this is the closest forum I could find related to my question. The PO of my 81 GS1100E put some kind of "drag" aftermarket handlebars on her. Can I replace them with any GS series handlebars to get it back to the way nature intended? Or is there a specific model of handlebar I will need to look for? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Some models share the handlebars, others don't. You'll have to compare part numbers and do a cross-reference. You'll find instructions on my little website.

Or you could try some Daytona or Superbike bars. They are the most popular aftermarket bars around here.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Sometimes cable lengths get changed along with bars. And you don't have to just use suzuki bars- lots of others ( 7/8 inch diameter) will fit. Look at other bikes and find some you like. This pic (from Basscliff ? ) gives you rough idea of dimensions. Handlebar shape makes them expensive to ship off ebay ,so try to find some locally. Remember that dirt bike bars tend to be much wider than street bikes need or want.

Thank you for the help! I never thought about the cable lengths having been changed, but I'll bet they have,,,

I put Emgo Euro bars on my 'T'. I had to re-route the clutch and throttle cables at first, but ended up ordering clutch and throttle cables from the 'E' model, and the work perfect. The Euro bars give the bike a MUCH sportier feel, but you're not so forward that you're laying on the tank. It's all really personal preference though, on what kind of feel you're looking for. Just make sure, when you do put new bars on, to start it up and turn the bars left and right to make sure your throttle doesn't change as you do so, or that any of the cables hinder the turning of the bars. If so, you may need to re-route the cables or get different lengths. Good luck!
