No question here, just some good advice. I had an embarrassing situation yesterday when I tried to sell an 82 650L that didn't want to start with a cold engine. The bike has run absolutely great since I did the valves and carbs last year, but it has occasionally had the coldstart issue. It would crank and crank and crank with no fire, and it didn't seem to need much choke at all. It would eventually come to life but not on all four cylinders at once. I even pulled the carbs again to make sure the choke pick up tubes were absolutely clear, which they were. So after a few quick searchs here, I got wise to checking the voltage at the coils. Sure enough, I had 9.3 V on one of them and 10.1 on the other. An hour later with Deoxit in all of the connectors, and I was at 12.2 V on both coils. I didn't have to touch the E stop switch or the ignition switch. Now it starts as good as it runs, and the choke works exactly as it should. I sold it today for full asking price. Now I need another one. These really are great bikes
