slick... I don't know specifically what DOT regs call for so I ordered amber to be on the safe side. I doubt i'll use bullets on the front but i will put on some round chromed mini's to match the look. I gotta get rid of those bugeyes.

I noticed you've got the single wire, mine came in as a double but the hook-up is almost the same and stock was a single.

Most of the mini's I found (LED any way) were not DOT approved no matter what color. Thats why I was looking at these, they were larger and used a bulb.

I have these already on the way:

I ordered them before I decided to go away from stock. Dunno if I am still going to use them at all as I think I would like to use bullets all around for even look.

Funny but i had seriously considered that same set.

Today i've got to remount my rear tire as the first-second attempts didn't set the bead evenly. I'll also likely restrip the parts from the bike and give them another going over before paint ( that is if the weather breaks).

I may get really ambitious and sand and prime the rear spoke rim.

Black-out everything and leave a few chrome highlights.

LOL to bad you don't live in NH. I gotta get my front tire to take a bead today or pull it and drag it to HK tomorrow :P

You are gonna paint your rims? I like the chrome spoke look. My GS is an 83 so it doesnt have spokes. I was toying with the idea of swapping the rims on my GT and GS so the spokes were on the GS and the solids were on the GT for a cafe racer. I dunno about compatibility though.

Harley has a new model out for this year called a nightster. nice bike with everything blacked out. That may be my new model. Funny regarding some guys feelings towards the direction we're taking with these bikes but my answer to that would be "why then did suzuki come out with a twin-v"

we all know the answer.

the rim swaps depend on bearing size from what I've read. That and my spokes are on an 18" rim with a 19 up front. I'm going to work with what I've got and what I've got is a can of etching primer......

by the way, the lights you have picked out are called mini's, the micro mini LED's you've mentioned take that concept to another level.

Looking good! What did you use for caps on your fender brackets? I was thinking about trimming and squashing the tubes to put Harley fender strut covers over them.

Wow they really blew these pics up. Maybe I'll scale them down a little next time.

Anyway we've got the tank mods to mount an 80ish gsl tank to a 78 frame, some of the cut work on the fender and the tail bracket and rail plugs.
This photobucket deal is pretty neat. More pics to come.

I guessing you meant the rail plugs and they are 1" dia 303 stock with one end turned to 7/8 and pressed into the rail with a little epoxy for good measure. the other end can be machined to preference. Its really great to have a lathe handy when you need one.

Bopi, I assume the pictures that are three across are 3 seperate pictures??

If you edit your post and hit the enter/return key between them they should line up vertically and not horizontally.

Quoting posts with big pictures makes reading threads for dial up connected people more difficult.

 Cool ride BTW!

Mine line up vertically but I've got a 19 inch monitor. I'll edit the pics and you'll have to tell me if the images are corrected

Ok so while I'm still waiting for primer to dry......

I went down to the basement this morning for the usual coffee and cigar (the little woman doesen't appreciate cigars) and i did the usual of wondering how to get the day started on the right foot. Mind you i'm sitting in a pair of sweatpants and a bath robe and looking over at the bike thinking what next..

The tank and fenders are off in a corner waiting for paint and my paint guy put me off for another week. Seems he wanted to rewire his 4x4 this weekend.

So... time to work on the rail welds. I previously snatched some 6 inch sanding discs from work, adhered one to the buffing wheel and let the grit fly. The 50 grit is a bit course so i followed up with a file and then some paper to smooth it down some. The etching primer works great on bare metal but it tends to really soften the existing paint on any overlap. I'll have to go check. Anyway I'll paint and as usual take some pics.

The front end work is due and i've got some ideas for that.
The gauges are easily lowered with spacers and longer bolts. the headlight can also be lowered by inverting the bracket. The fork tree can also be lowered or forks raised but all this is up in the air right now and i've still got to change the front tire. By the way, if issac is reading this, I'd like a close up of the headlight mounting bracket you've done as that is always another option.

Oh yea, and I 86ed the all black rims and spokes. After an extensive yahoo search this is the only pic i could find ( other than the nightster) and had second thoughts.

Remember " Once you go hack, you can never come back"

The size of the monitor has nothing to do with it. Mine's a 17 and although still a bit big, they now are vertically aligned so you did change or edit something? I no longer have to scroll to another zip code to view:razz: ! 640X480 pixels is a good size for posts IMO.

good to hear it, I did the editting as you prescribed so apparently it worked.

It must take into next month for you to load those j-pegs with a dial-up.
You would seem to have more patients than I do.
