A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The subject is pretty self-explanitory. The reason I ask is that it could prevent a lot of stripped drain threads.

I just saw one for the first time about 2 weeks ago--now that you reminded me i will go get it tomorrow- it should make for less busted knuckles also--if it doesnt leak or some other thing..
Whats your feeling on the item even if you havent bought one yet???

I imagine they would be ok if they don't melt. I honestly prefer metal on metal but suzuki went and used something like a 15/16" nut on my bike and as a result I have to use a wrench with too much leverage to install it.

I guess the product would have too be considered based on how it attaches to the engine as well as material. I'm gonna have a look at them when I'm at Crappy Tire tomorrow and will let you know what I think.

Steve

ps. Crappy Tire is the proper name for Canadian Tire as they don't have a good enough reputation to be using our country's name. They charge by piece work so you can run up a 9 hour labour bill in 3 hours with some unlicensed kid hacking at your car...

I just came back fron discount auto parts and the quick drains that they have are not the fine thread needed for my gs  -- i liked it though :D
have you found one that fit your bike???

Nope, no luck at my parts store. I'll just have to use my torque wrench next time.

In my case my left arm is weak from a stroke and i am trying to make an important job a little easier--the one i saw was brass and had a cap that goes on it to ensure no leaks---then when you want to drain the sump, you remove the cap and screw a device that pushes the valve open to allow the oil to flow out--oh yes and this device has a hose on it about 6 inches long--but as i said i couldnt get one to fit--i tried it just to see if it was my eyes, but the threads were too course

I've got one on the cage.

I've got one on the cage.

It has worked good so far. I've only changed the oil once since I have installed it. Very easy and quick. I can do the filter and oil in about 5 minutes. Best of all, I can change the oil even if the car is hot, since there is no touching of the drain bolt at all. If I can find one for the bike, I am going to get it.

Please make sure you let us all know if you find one that fits the bike :D
