A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

The views expressed in this forum are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of "The GSResources" or the editors.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I posted an earlier thread about welding and the GSR came up with some great recommendations as where to start. That thread has disappeared, so I'm starting another one.

Does anyone have personal experience with this unit (Multi Mig Argon Shield Welder, Model 90070-71) and working on motorcycles?

I'm not looking to use it for doing any work on frames. I do not have 220V in the garage nor is the garage close enough to the house dryer to run an extension cord. I see using it for building brackets and other lighter gauge work (plus removing the odd broken bolt :-\\\)

i use a 90amp flux welder and it is great for welding anything up to 1/4 inch. after using it for the past 2 years and welding up the cage on my landscaping trailer ive learned to lay decent beads with it. the post says 15amp which is very low im not sure if that is the correct output or a mistake by the poster

I'm pretty sure the poster means it requires a 15amp circuit breaker. I can't imagine welding anything with that kind of output.

that welder will be plenty for any type of welding you would do in a usual home garage/shop. unless your running some fabrication shop it will definetly be good

I've had a small 110v mig and for what you want to do it's prefect..
I don't have any idea about that particular model so bring some pieces of steel and see how it works before you buy.

One tip.. Get yourself a heavy duty extension cord.. I got some 25' 10gauge cords and they really help.
