A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

You are lucky to find a shop that will work on them.

HOWEVER if they are not going to tune them in on your bike to complete the job. I must suggest that you are going down a path where you may pay twice or more to get a good running bike.

just cause a set of carbs are clean does not mean they will work right.

last clean and tune I did was near $400 due to the amount of parts needed. I work for 20/hr and stand behind my work %200%

That is right I'll pay you if I cannot fix your bike.

OH...have I got a project for you. I figure if I have you "fix" it, I can afford a new F-150. ;)

The reason I am not using the original carbs is because the person that worked on the bike prior to me purchasing it did some shoddy work on the carbs and ended up using JB weld to finish the job. Dont ask for details because I dont have any :) So basically the carbs needed replaced. That is why I purchased them off ebay.

He did say the emulsion tubes and he said they were pretty scummy and needed a real good cleaning.

The 235 includes parts and syncing the carbs on the bike itself.

Oh also the guy is a retired harley mechanic who loves old bikes. I've seen his work before. He is meticulous. The work he did for a buddy of mine turned out really well so I believe him to be a reputable mechanic. I know he gets ****ed at other mechanics who do work for people and don't spend the time to do the job right.

As long as he does the job right that's a decent price. Did he take the carbs apart to be able to see the tubes? As long as he disassembles the carbs and dips them the tubes get done anyway.

thats not bad at all! its 85 a hour here, yea they think there gods gift to motorcyclist, here, and they suck lol

figure hes fixing the carbs and synqing them not just replacing the o rings
the needles are wore, then there junk, not sure if there rubber tipped or steel needles in the carbs you got, this way you dont have to mess with it either, needle and seat kits are 25 or so?, and they dont come with the O-rings!,i just got 1 from midwest actioncycle, i didnt know they couldnt get o rings until i got it ,and there wasnt one with it:eek:

When I needed rings for the valve seats I picked up the size used for pump up garden sprayers. They go on a little tight but are just the right size once stretched over the seat. A little lube and they slide right into their bore.

They've held up fine, had them out since. I guess the manufacturer expects the rings to be exposed to all types of chemicals.

EXACTLY! Many chemicals are petrol based and are a geat deal more corrosive than engine oil. ALL seals that come into contact with chemicals are viton and have been, forever. It has been only since the mid 80's that the auto makers made the switch... :|
