Headed to Ontario...on a Honda...yikes

Next up....Montana!

I stopped in Columbia Falls MT so that I could return a room key that I accidently took with me last year on our way home from Ontario....dropped it in the key box.....I'm sure they wondered what the heck? Lol
Then I had lunch at the Gunslinger Saloon...we had a great time there last year. Really beautiful bar. Just look at the ceiling

It was another hot day...and I opted to wear my cooling vest with no jacket in the afternoon...don't feel great about not wearing a jacket but the heat was crazy.

I was going to stay in Havre MT and arrived there at around 6pm but the only motel there was full....and I was not about to stay in a place I couldn't park my bike in front of and relax with a cold one beside my bike. So I travelled down hwy 2 for another 70kms to Harlem MT....pretty slim pickings there but I checked in at The Moonlight Motel.....a wonderful woman checked me in...she told me here and her husband, a farmer bought and renovated the motel after she retired as a school teacher in Harlem....they named it Moonlight because they were "moonlighting" from their regular jobs.

What an amazing evening....I washed the days bugs off my bike and sat and watched the sun go down on another day on the road.....I remember feeling very happy and peaceful.

Beside the motel was a yet another weed shop...the motel owner told me they were great neighbours and that the owner was a former grade two student of hers....lol

Great shots as always, like Rich says, enjoying any road trip photos you post.

I stayed in Harlem MT on my one & only long trip back from Michigan.
I tried to ride home from Harlem to Bellingham (989 miles) in one day on the Kat, thru Lolo & Hwy 20.
After 18 hours in the saddle, I made it to a turn out between Twisp & Winthrop & fell asleep immediately in the dirt.

The few times I've been the the Ontario Province, it seemed very laid back, and the people were very friendly. I've never been out to the B.C section, it is so beautiful out there, from the pictures I've seen, and the pictures you are posting, where your bike is just parked and not being harassed, a lot of places in New England aren't very friendly to bikers. those pis are great, by the way.

The weed shops. The U.S. is so uptight about weed. It's just been decriminalized in Connecticut. But there are so few places you can get it, (4 in the whole state) and they charge and arm and a leg. I have been able to get Medical Marijuana because of my Spinal Cord injuries, but the State of Connecticut requires that I pay them $100 dollars for the dealer fee. I am under pain management, it's hard enough just paying for the wed, the fact that the state taxes you for it, and makes you pay $100 bucks a year for the privilege is a bit much.

I don't like to smoke anyways, and would rather consume it, but to be honest, the buzz lasts too long. I used to grow the stuff back in the '70's and '80's, I was on my 6th generation Sinsemilla plants, 18 feet high with 6" diameter stalks, but I lost the place where I could grow it at. I stopped smoking back then. Having road side shops, I doubt that will ever happen down here, in my State, anyways.

Your posts are great, your pictures are great. Am I reading too much into them? Seem like a great place to be to me. :).

Dude....where ya been. We are half way there already.
23 states and D.C. have legal, recreationally pot. Last time I went to IL, there was four shops within 10 miles of my hotel.
The shops are great. You know what your are getting. They have edibles, drinkables, smokibles....Fun place to shop.
Sure a bunch of red states are fighting it, (including mine), but they will lose this fight.

So here's the thing...all the pics you have seen so far are in the USA :)...I crossed into the usa on the first day of the trip...lol
I do agree it is much more laid back here in Canada...especially towards marijuana.....for example, when I buy weed in the usa I am not allowed to travel with it to another state...even if it's legal in the state too....dumb imo. In Canada you are free to travel wherever you like with it....in fact I put it in my luggage on my plane for my flight home...try that in the usa....lol...the north western states are pretty cool and a little more like Canada.....oh but in North Dakota I couldn't buy beer anywhere on a Sunday, unless I was at a bar.....now that is backwards.

I was looking at the pics. Didn't notice any locations till you posted them. In any event, what I said is still true. You can't buy Beer in Connecticut on Sunday either. The closest weed dispensary has decided not to open to the general public yet, even though they could have 6 months ago. The closest one after that is over 30 miles away. The U.S is swinging so far right, we'll be left soon, some kind of National Socialists, maybe with the right to buy weed in half of the states. I don't know if you plan to go to Utah, you have to buy a license to drink beer. You buy it at the bar, lots of regs. on that I don't know but a friend went there, he said he'd never go back.

I imagine most of the country up there is beautiful big sky country. I'm happy you're having a nice trip. I don't smoke weed, but I worked for the Federal Bureau of prisons, and saw people who spent 20 years in jail for having a half ounce of weed on them. That's just not right. We have people here in Connecticut still in jail on weed charges, and they still haven't gotten around to letting them out. Can you imagine being in jail for something that everyone else is now buying legally.

I didn't want to cause controversy on complimenting you on your trip, so I'll bow out. It appears that much of America is beautiful too, I already knew that, seeing the pictures is better than imagining it though. I hope you continue to have a safe journey. :)

I was in Utah in May...and go there at least once a year....you don't need a licence to buy beer or liquor there anymore....Bought beer at the grocery store with just regular ID and went to the pubs and restaurants no problem to get liquor and beer there either. Where there was a problem was when buying Liquor you had to go to a Gov store. And as Canadians they wouldn't except my Government issued driver's license....lol...had to show our Passports as that is all they would take.....now that is backwards.
Funny note...my buddy was in a separate line in the liquor store from me and didn't have his passport....the guy behind him said "no problem, my treat"! And bought the bottle for my friend. Now that is cool :)

Nice to hear they loosened up on the Beer. The liquor thing is ridiculous. Florida is not accepting certain Connecticut licenses if they are issued to immigrants, as I.D's. Not sure on the particulars, but I went to the gulf side of Florida, drove up and down it. It was back country. Some decent people, but the hotels/motels were disgusting. The sheets had hair and fingernails on them. It was really gross. I just ended up sleeping in my car most of the time. You dear not pitch a tent, their are large critters down there that consider your tent to be food wrapping. :)

I especially appreciate you clarifying the current situation with buying beer there. Your information clears up any confusion I had and will be very helpful for future reference.
