    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

headlight brackets

Hey all,
Going to drop my headlight and gauges lower on the forks. Anyone got a set of brackets they want to send up here to canada. I have paypal :)
Mines a 750, not sure if all forks are the same.
 
yeah, probably. good alternative. I'll have to measure them up for fit. How much did you drop your light from stock?
 
There are a lot of slidable headlight ears available on eBay and elsewhere, for as little as $15. I once made some out of PVC plumbing materials. I used 1.25" drain pipe over the fork tubes (35mm, in my case) and used pipe cement to glue triangular brackets made of sheet PVC to them, then painted the whole thing silver. Looked pretty good, and cost about $10. PVC is a lot easier to shape, drill and bond than metal, at least for me.
 
You can get those through just about any bike shop. They're in the Parts Canada catalogue as I recall. Maybe abit more expensive about $20 I recall.

They are pretty adjustable and you can mount them as low as the lower tripple tree.

If you're halfways handy you could whip up a set from aluminum or steel sheet too but they wouldn't be as cheap I suspect ( in time and money) but you make some interesting shapes.

How much drop do you get by just inverting / swapping the mounts you have, or do you gain anything that way?
 
nuts and bolts..... just go to Alberta Cycle or Echo Cycle and order some aftermarket Emgo ones from Motovan..... You'll have them in 2 days for about $20 bucks.

I have the same ones as Flaming Chainsaws on my 400. You can mount them at whatever height you wish between your top and bottom triple trees.

my only concern with the clamp-ons is; how far forward can I place the light from stock? Reason I mention that is I'm thinking of dropping the light to just in front of or slightly centered above the lower fork clamp. Then the guages will drop next. Was thinking about cutting and welding the stock ones to give me the best placement options. I'll have to measure up the clamp-ons to see what room I have.
