I am having a very hard time finding bearings for my 1983 GR650 Tempter. All the online sites that show the price for these that I have checked with email me back and say they are disontinued. Even Z1 doesn't have a source...but Chris did find a site in the Netherlands that sells them. Thanks Chris!

So far I have found 2 places, both in the Netherlands, that claim they have them. But at a price, with the currency conversion, that comes out to about $155 or more.

If anyone knows any place or any person that may have access to these bearings, please help me out. Or if anyone has ever had any experience with sellers from the Netherlands, let me know how it went and who you used.

I have to head off for work right now but I'll post here later the 2 Netherland sites I've found.

Thanks everyone.

Wheel bearings? Transmission bearings? Crank bearings? Steering stem bearings? More info needed.

Yep..my mistake. I need crank bearings and rod bearings. Thanks Big Rich for stepping in with the correct info. It was early this morning and I was running a little late for work.

I was hoping someone might have had an experience with buying parts from overseas. The Netherlands uses the Euro but England uses the pound and it takes more US dollars in the currency conversion than the Euro. I found some bearings from Wemoto in England (pounds) but they total out around $203 versus the $155 with Euros through the Netherlands.

Still hoping someone can help with some info either way....bearings or overseas experience buying parts.

Thanks all...

Absolutely!! I need the following:

4 rod bearings: Part # 12164-15510-030

6 crankshaft bearings: Part # 12229-15510-030
2 crankshaft bearings: Part # 12229-15510-040

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks Portdave and Agemax!! I gotta head off to work right now so I'll check them when I get home. I hope they have them.

As I stated earlier, I've tried several other web sites that showed the fiche with prices but when I emailed them, all I got was an email reply saying..."Sorry, these are discontinued"...

Thanks...now I'll be spending all day hoping ...and hoping...and hoping...

You might want to call Miller and tell them what you have run into. They might find some that will work.....

I agree with Dave, a good bearing house will be able to get them and should save you some cash over a motorcycle dealer.

not many bearing dealers sell shell bearings, they would probably have to be a suzuki part only, especially as they come in different thicknesses.

Thanks for the help everyone. Sent Parts Pit Stop an email with my cell number (Thanks Agemax). Hopefully they'll have what I need. If not, I'll try calling Miller (Thanks Portdave) and see if they can help.

Maybe ?

http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gr650-x-tempter-1983-usa_model15987/partslist/94156.html#results

Still list them and different sizes and goes as far as letting you order them.

Connecting rod bearings: 12164-15510-010 and the last 2 digits change for the larger size 12164-15510-020, 12164-15510-030, 12164-15510-040
Crank bearings: 12229-15510-020 and same as above for larger sizes.

I know the 400 does not fit, so it goes to say that the 450 or 500 bearings will not either. They have nothing but the tempter for those part numbers to cross reference with.

Hey Mekanix

Thanks for the help. I sent an email to http://www.motorcyclepartspitstop.co...001%2f09510007 and like all the other sites in America that show they have them...well, they don't. I keep getting the.."Sorry discontinued"...answer.

I did find the site you listed, in the Nehterlands, and you're right, they say online they are available. But there was another Netherlands site that said they had them and at a little less Euros so I emailed them last night. No reply yet, but I'm not sure they'll work as the list they had showing their bearings available was last updated in February of this year. I also tried Wemoto in England but the pound conversion is a lot higher than the Euros.

If I don't hear back from the first place I emailed then it looks like I'll be buying from CMSNL and do my first ever purchase overseas!!

Thanks for your help and effort...

Portdave...just sent an email to Miller bearings like you suggested. Thought it was worth a shot.

No reply to my email to Miller Bearings but....I did get a reply from the Netherlands! Seems the first site I emailed sent me a reply that he had 8 of the 12 bearings I need. I'm waiting for an invoice...then I think I can get the last 4 bearings from the other Netherlands site.

For the level of misery involved I would try and get a good used motor.
With gaskets and parts you are into this for about 200 are you not?
