A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am missing the fuse box cover for my 80 gs850.

Ive ordered the repair manual for this bike but haven't received it yet.

I have the wiring schematic but given the fact that I'm a total ra-tard when it comes to electricity I think I have an idea of what goes where but im probably not even close.

Electricity = magic.

Can anybody , from top to bottom, tell me what my five fuses control?

Thanks,

Retarded New-B :)

That's what I got from the diagram too.

My problem is that I don't have any headlight or turn signals. Brake light works on foot brake but not hand brake.

I didnt really have time to do much other than clean, degrease, change oil, etc. today. Spent too much time running around looking for a locally non-available repair manual.

Look at the switch on the front brake. It's possible it's not connected inside the headlight bucket or could just need cleaning/adjustment at the handle. Just be careful when you pull it apart as there is a couple of small parts that will fall out on you.

Have you checked out the fuses with a test light to ensure they are okay? Don't just trust a visual check as they can break under the caps. Have you already cleaned all of your connections with Deoxit or some other type of contact cleaner?

Download the service manual from Basscliff's site.

Hi,

You've received your "mega-welcome" in your other thread.

Please visit my little website (link below) and start with the READ ME link. You'll find a service manual there, lots of tutorials, tips, and suggestions. Don't forget to check the Electrical, Engine, Brake, and Clutch "odds and ends" sections.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I bought all new fuses and it solved MOST of my problems. I see the order (15amp in the fourth spot) but I'm not sure if my fuse box has been taken out and replaced upside down. Could somebody take a pic of their fuse box for me? Just to show the orientation. I still havent gotten my repair manual from brown truck santa.

Thanks in advance if anybody can help me out.

I have seen fuse boxes mounted either end UP, so use the AUX screw terminals as your reference point.

Starting AWAY from the AUX screws, your fuses are:
LIGHTS - power the headlight, tail light and instrument lights
SIGNALS - power the brake light, turn signals, horn and warning lights (oil pressure, etc.)
IGNITION - powers the ignitor and coils
MAIN - powers the whole bike until the engine is running, then limits the charge to the battery
AUX - powers the + screw terminal right next to it

Hope that helps.

That is EXACTLY What I needed. Thanks again!
