I'm horrible at visualizations and have pert near no artistic talent when it comes to art, design and aesthetics.

Come to find out though one of the guys I work with has a paint booth... he also has a local place that will powder coat my frame for cheap, like 30$ (I've helped him as dumb labor for a few projects and rebuilt a go-kart motor for him)...

so now comes the had part... I need to come up with a design and color scheme for my GS550E... I like the blue and white paint job it has now but for some reason just re-doing it in the same colors seems plain to me....

thinking of keeping the blue but taking the white and turning it black.... (getting rid of the suzuki on the side and adding either a vinyl sticker under the clear coat or something)

here's what it currently looks like:

man, I love the look of the colors your have. BUT, if you were going to paint, Not sure how I feel about black instead of white. The black would bleed into the seat. I like seeing the seat as a separate contrasting component. Plus the white gives it the only POP as it's the brightest color. how bout silver instead of the white. Or maybe a lighter shade of blue instead of the white. OR better...leave the white and change the blue. Then you can make it ORANGE!!!

either way, I'm sure it'll look great!

I'm a big fan of pearl white.. I think if you just changed the normal white for that it would pop pretty good..

pink is the way to go!!! pink bikes are faster, just ask Skip!! LOL :D

how about a variation of the stock colors. white pearl and a deep blue metalic or pearl?

Hey thats what my stock color scheme looked like except trade the blue for red......I spray bombed mine satin black......I have been thinking about tangelo and pearl white with black pin stripes........

BTW... my seat is blue... matching the blue on the tank and sides... not black....

ahhhh, well that changes things. I do like the idea of the pearl that people are throwing up. But maybe the black wouldn't look bad with the blue seat.

PHOTOSHOP!

OOOOOO pearl black!!! I have seen it done before, sweek solid black till the sun hits it and you get these sparkles of color.

I've been tossing around paint schemes for my 450 that I will most likely never get to. One of them was flat black with gloss teal stripes. Think about it. Its not for everyone. I was also thinking baby blue or seafoam green for the stripes.

Hows about making what's white now blue and replacing what's blue now with black? Maybe some metallic grey or silver pinstripes to set it off?

I personally ahve always liked yellow and black on sporty bikes. Maybe it was because I grew up reading about (and looking at photos) of Kenny Roberts on his "bumblebee" Yamaha OW series GP bikes in the late 70s/early 80s.

There's just something about that color scheme, and the different variations of it I've seen on bikes (including GSXRs) over the years....

should be cheap to recover your seat in black

then pait it like the GS1000R

here is my suggestion, powdercoat your wheels while you have everything apart...

"pert near"

So that's how you spell it! 40 years ago in the 4th grade I was telling some story in class that ended with "..and I pert near got killed". Mrs. Sechreist told me come to the chockboard and spell "pert near". I couldn't and that was the last time I used that phrase.

The shade of blue that seemed the most popular at the paint shop that I used to hang at was Candy Cobalt Blue - a gorgeous House of Colors shade of fairly dark blue that had enough red in it to give it a purplish tinge.

Yes, I was one of those guys with a CCBlue bike back then.

The painter always groaned when yet another guy came in wanting his bike that color. He went through a lot of that stuff...

Any chance you would be comfortable letting us know what you paid for the paint job, cause it looks amazing.

1800.00 . that was all the r and r of the body pieces, prep, paint and clear coating

Mercedes Obsidian metallic black is deep and the flakes are ultrafine! In the sun, it fairly glitters. I pianted my sons GS450 with this and it was beautiful

Notice the graphics make it look upswept instead of the original sweeping motion. I'd vote to give it a more graphic treatment but along the same "lines" as the original job.

Mrs. Sechrist should have told you it was spelled "chalkboard".

I'd have done that job for a thou.

The MB Obsidian is an impressive color. I wouldn't want to have to keep it clean on a car, but on a bike I'd take it.

Touche. I had a feeling that didn't look right after I hit send. But she did teach me it's "painted" not "pianted". However, in all fairness, yours was a keystroke failure while mine was a cerebral cortex burp.
