A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does anyone know what wires go where and which ones need to be combined? Imy trying to rewire a new Switch but can't seam to get it right. I have the wiring schematics for the whole bike but it's quite confusing. When 4 wires are in a row on the schematic does that mean they need to be wired together?

I'm confused. Been at this for 2 days now.

Is the switch a GS part?
Are you soldering inside the housing or just trying to get under tank plugs to talk to each other?
Wired together just sounds bad :)
Pic of what's causing the confusion would be good.

The switch is a generic one I found online. The wires behind the original one have all been cut and Im starting from scratch. 20170714_162433.jpg

Found this using Google search...

No need to be a jerk. Just wondering if someone knows the wiring order. If you don't then don't reply.

Don't start multiple threads on the same topic. Bump your existing thread and don't litter the forum with duplicates.

Get a pin out schematic on this generic switch you bought and then draw a wiring diagram. After you have your sketch come back and post it here and someone will tell you if it will work. All this goes out the window if you don't know what your switch is doing.

So the simple answer is you don't know so stop replying cause you're littering my thread.

What the F does "wiring order" mean anyway?

Well, because you don't know anything about this but you insist on commenting... first you connect the low beam switch to the white wire. Then the yellow to the high beam switch then the sb wire to the relay...etc... there's an order on a rewire.

Maybe Eddy should keep out of a conversation he knows nothing about.

Maybe you should buy the correct control if you don't know anything about wiring...

There is no "order on a "rewire", you must simply connect everything correctly.

Sure. The easy way would be to buy the identical one and just snap it in. I thought this was a forum to help people figure out problems by giving them advice on how to solve problems. An easier way would be to buy a new bike as well but I'm trying to fix my bike with the tools and parts that I have. I guess I'll just figure it out on my own. Thanks for the help everyone.

And what is the correct way? What wire goes where? Ie; the yellow wire goes to the high beam switch, the b/w is the ground, the s/b is the relay etc...

Yes there is, cause if you connect 2 wires that have constant current you blow the fuse. And if you don't START with the ground, the circuit will remain open and the rest of your trouble shooting will be pointless so you need to begin with the proper sequence when rewiring something.

Have you downloaded your wiring diagram, reviewed it, and then checked the function of the new device against it?

Better yet, listen to what Ed and others are saying as they know plenty more about these bikes than you are giving them credit for
