A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I ask for some info. about adding a little more power and Dink suggested that I add a Hi-Flow Airfilter. I have been looking for one but have not been able to locate any information on them. Can someone let me know what the best type is. I have been looking at K&N but just cant seam to get the info. I need.

Greg

I cant belive I did not give bike info. I have a 1980 1100E.

Greg    :)

If max airflow is your goal, then you want a K&N. I use one on my Honda (boo), but they're pricey. On my gs 850, I use a Uni filter, it's still considered hi flow, not as much as KN, but it cost about 1/3 as much. Good filter for the money.

I went ahead and purchase the individual airfilters from UNI. I would rather had the K&N but they were to much (170.00). I got the UNI filters for $80.00.

Perhaps the K&N filters are just a symbol where mostly stock or only slightly modified bikes are concerned. Max air flow through your other brand pods will more than likely be more than you will require any way.

I agree with you. I cant belive that K&N's filters warrent a $90.00 dollar mark up in price. I am not planning on raceing it so I do not needed the extra expense. The only thing I could think that may cause it would be the name and that they may last a little longer. If any can tell me the difference I would like to know.

Greg :D

Someone was trying to scalp you for that $170. You can get the jet kit and the K&N filters for that or less.

The k&ns are extremely well made though.
Maybe just an over kill in some cases.

You are so right about that Dom. I've had mine for about 17 years now. I wash them about once a year and reoil them. You don't really even have to wash them that often if you don't want to. In fact, K&N claims a little dirt actually helps the filter. Just reoil over the dirt and all.
