and it sat for many years some one stole the flat side carbs before i bought it. so i had a time finding the right size carbs located some off of a 1978 gs750 the guy sais there was fine but they needed bigger jets for my bike so i pulled the bolws off bought a new jet kit installed them the bike starts easy but runs the same with or with out the choke low rpm like 1g to 3 it runs fair some times.. but it gags bad when i gas it the carbs have three brass fittings it looks like for gas lines but they are not it has the one center line for the fule all carbs are getting gas whats the three lines for? the two right side carbs have them and the inside left.i want to get a set of carbs for this bike if anyone has a good set for sell please let me know i also have alot of parts for the 1982 gs1100e i have a salvage yard in malden missouri i could send the carbs to some one to fix and test out ???? i will pay for it shipping and all. or i will buy some good carbs i will get some pictures up of my bike friday it is a old school drag bike looks fast sitting still.back in 1985 it was running low 6's in the 8th on racing fuel. im keeping it after taking it for a few low rpm passes man what a ride. thanks for any help loyal gs fans..mike

I saw some 1100 carbs on ebay for around $50. Just type in carb or carbs and you can see them.

Low 6's man thats great. My 1100 best run is 7.21 in the 1/8, but thats on the OEM engine. Lets us know whats mods are on your bike.

it has a 1105 big bore kit cut gears welded crank v&h clutch ported polished racing sprockets webber cams dyna igntion star header with kerker silencer thanks for the info but i have two sets of 1100 carbs in fact one set on ebay was mine they closed yesterday with no bids i sell on ebay for a living just bike parts.the 1100 carbs are alor bigger than mine i think mine is 28 29mm the 1100 looks like 34 or bigger my intakes bolt on or i would use a bigger boots i had a set of flat side mikunis on my 1979 kz900 they stepped me up a 1.3 in the 1/8 i would like to find a set of them for the bike. new ones are about 750.00. your bike looks cool i just sold a hard tail gs1100 drag bike that looked something like yours.

Re carbs 77-79 slide type 750 carbs are baisicly the same as the 1000 carbs (26mm) just with different jets/needles I would try and find a jet kit for a 1000 and install it in the carbs as a starting point. OR 29mm smothe bores (hard to find) The 79-79 style of intake mounting limits what you can use for carbs

thats what i done put a new kit in some 750 carbs but it will not run good at all really it just idles sometimes you can rev it up but not over 5g's does these carbs need to hooked up to vacumm

Did you use stock size jets? What type of air filter are you using ?

i used a stock 1000 kit and im running k+n filters what it acts like is water in the gas if you ever had that you will know. i going to run it by and let e carb expert listen to it in the morning i will post wha the tells me thanks

OK you MUST rejet With the K&N filters!!!! Probably 2-3 sizes larger on the main jet as a starting point. With modified engine It would pay for you to get a stage 3 jet kit from K&N if they are still available. I'm sure someone else here may have more info

it should at least run fair though with what i got now? it snaps pops and smells rich on fuel. after this guy looks at it i will be back with info this sounds like a good ideal though.

for vacuum, run a hose off the number 3 carb. the other two ports are breathers. dont hook up 3 and 4 together or else you suck fuel out of the carb. learned that one from experience :) and you will need to rejet bigger like dancer said. I had the same problem you do before then.

gs1000 carbs

gs1000 carbs

do they need vacumm to run? witch one is #3 is it left to right 1234 do i need to just change the main jet it ha a 95 in it now thanks again mike

Just guessing I would try #110 jet (95 is correct stock) Then raise the needle one notch and see how it runs. Alot of it depends on engine mods

thats what a local guy sugested to he said maybe a 145 main and lower the needle on notch.? well raise the notch one in turn lowers it. im going to be working on it saturday im going to post a picture of it.its nothing major just a bad looking old school style drag bike i like the look more then a top fuel bike turn signals and litghts and i can ride it on the street . i have a good titled bare frame for a 1981 gs1100

I would check for loose/bad connections and general electric continuity too see where the juice stops before spending money on new parts.

CARBS

CARBS

I WENT OUT AND PULLED MY IGNTION TRY IT ON ANTHER BIKE AND IT WORKS PUT IT BACK ON MY BIKE SAME DEAL THEN I GOT OUT A CAN OF STARTING FLUID SPRAYED THE INSIDE TWO FILTERS AND IT RUNS OFF IT. I GUESS MY CARBS HAS SOMETHING BLOCKING THE FUEL.

I would say run vacuum on it. it goes 1234 if you are sitting on the bike from left to right
