    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

High-ethanol fuel conversion?

Howdy folks, I've got a notion in my head currently that's got me curious about the possibility of running my '83 1100E to run on high-ethanol fuels, E85, E98, or even E100!

I'm aware that some significant rejetting is normally involved in this, and also that E100 frequently has ignition problems on a cold engine and often needs a little help to get the engine kicked over on account of how cool it runs.

I know Ethanol is felt by many to be the devil incarnate, but I figure if I'm planning to run a high-ethanol fuel mix I will just have to get used to making sure i'm religiously cycling fuel through so it doesn't get goopy and wet.

I'm wondering though, have any other forum members done a high-ethanol conversion on a liter GS? Any tips or tricks to share?

One thing I'm wondering, for example, is whether running E98/E100 makes it possible for the 1100 engine to run with advanced timing without suffering its usual famous issues that normally happen on gasoline. I understand that in many other vehicles, the very high octane rating of ethanol (119 for E100, apparently?) frequently makes it possible to advance substantially more without issue.

Everything I've heard about pure ethanol is that if your engine can be set up properly for it, it runs cleaner and cooler, is more resistant to knock, and produces more power per stroke on account of it comes with oxygen pre-installed. Also, we can make it right here in my town, instead of having to get it shipped in from Saudi Arabia :cool:

Anyway, nothing I'm doing is gonna be worse than what the PO did to this poor beast.
