A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

After 3 months of all nighters my 82 gs1100ez started up right away and is running great....with one issue left to crack. it fills my garage with smoke!! so bad that i won't even ride it! it appears that it's coming from the bottom oil pan area. i let it idle for 20 minutes while staring at the oil pan and didn't see a single drop fall on the exhaust ( still has the factory exhaust) the oil pan is a little damp but i cant find anywhere oil might be running down. there was a small leak in the valve cover gasket but that was solved by re tightening the bolts. any ideas anybody?

Take a quart of oil with you, keep an eye on your oil level and take it for a nice long ride. As long as the smoke isn't coming out of the exhaust, my guess is it's just old baked on oil film and it should burn off after awhile.:)

thanks larry! hey one more question that may be related. when i first put the carbs back on and turned the fuel on, one of the float needles stuck open and alot of gas was dumped onto the tran and ran down into the starter cover.. i changed the oil after that happened but i did start the bike a few times before changing it. you think any of that gas made it to the oil? and should i change it again to flush it before i go on my long ride? :)

Do you think when it rains water gets into the oil?!? I think not!!!

Yes, I think gas got into the crankcase....don't ask me how I know.:o

After the gas was dumped, the oil and filter should be changed. The bike can be run for maybe 100 miles or so and then change it all again.:)

Degreased the bottom of the oil pan and fresh oil.. rode 30 miles yesterday with no smoke :) thanks everyone!

gas gets into the crank by flooding, because the float needle valves are not shutting off, could have been gummed up, or are wore out, but white in oil is water / moisture, or a oil cap left off, (or a piece of $hit pouring water in your oil) lol
who knows
