A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 1980 GS1100E with an 1166 Big Bore Kit, Stage 3 Jet Kit, and a V and H Megaphone header. My question is: Has any one ran this configuration across a Dyno? I am unable to find a shop with a Dyno to test my results. I would like to find out if anyone has ran this configuration and what kind of results these Mods produced! I am sure that I will be happy with the result but since I am still looking for a shop with a Dyno that can help me get the best results. It would be nice to know what results of other GS1100's have obtained!!!!!

Horse Power: ?
Compression Ratio: ?

Thanks,
The Beast

My guess would be about 115-120 at the crank

Wiseco 10.5-1 1166 pistons, stock head with no porting, stock cams. I was running Star dragpipe, msd and dyna s ignition, and 36 Mikuni carbs.

Wow, those are great numbers. You're making more peak torque at lower RPMs than a newer GSXR 1000!

Are you sure that torque reading is right, if it is than you have more torque than my truck with a 3 liter v6. It just seems way above the first run.

The 181.7 is wrong. I'm not sure why it printed it out like that. The torque was around 87. Peak HP was 128.

Still more torque than newschool sportbikes. That thing must accelerate like a beast!

Whew, thanks for clairifying that! I didn't know what was going on.

Still, great numbers, especially if you lightend the bike up a bit somehow.

I'll bet that with a good cam and an ignition advance curve to match, 150hp is right in line.
Cross my fingers. Thats what Im shooting for.

My 498 lb 81 1166 10.25-1 ran low 9.8's @ 138mph with stock head,g3 cams,38mm flatslides,stock ignition,and V&H dragpipe,oh yeah on a crappy dunlop street tire.These engines make healthy low/midrange grunt,thats what makes them a good choice for hopped up street rides.

Hey Rosco. What are you running for a rear tire????? BTW Nice numbers.

My 1166 would make your insides wiggle too. It is a great combo you have. Lots of folks really under estimate what these old gs bikes can put out.:-D

It's a dragbike so I'm running a M/T slick.
I was asking because as i get acustomed to my new engine, I dont believe my narrow one sized over tire will do the job. I ride it only on the street. I really dont know what to do in the way of a stretch and wider tire and still have the bike handle properly.

early 90's gsxr wheels are very cheap on ebay lately,a 5.5" wide rim with a 180 tire would be a good choice.

the 5.5" rim is the widest you can fit in a stock arm.you would also have to use an offset front sprocket.search the old posts,a lot of info on this subject.
