    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How do I protect White Leather?

Just bought a new gitup - and it's white. Started with a white helmet and then a white jacket and now white gloves. arrrgggggg!

Tha jacket and gloves are due in this week and before I wear them out on the open road - I wanna know how I can keep the white as white as possible and avoid the yellow discolouration that happens over time.

I've heard saddle soap might be my best bet, also heard that shoe cleaner designed for white leather might be a wise choice.

Any ideas???

I hope you didnt put to much money into them that you cannot afford another darker pair of leathers. Bugs stain and please do not ride into the rain. It will put some yellow in that clean white. I had some that had red and some white in it. They were hard to keep clean other than finding a good leather cleaning service and using leather protectant ( a but load on them). Check out your local cleaning patrons out that would even touch white leather at a decent price. Have fun in all you do. Peace D.

You can get white leather cream to protect and clean it. Any leather shop should have it.
 
Or black leather dye...

I have white and blue gloves..The white looks Ok from far away, but up close its discolored and stained. Find a good protectant and use it generously. Clean the stuff after each use. Dont crash..White leather looks real bad after being rubbed and rolled all over the ground. That is a great looking jacket BTW!

What you said here is what I plan to do - I give me one season before I start neglecting the cleaning of it after each ride. :lol:

Maybe I'll try and remember to dig up this thread in September and post an after picture...haha.

Go to you local friendly Walmart and find the shoe department. There is a product that is there for workboots and it is a water repellant for all leather types. It was a large can but if I were you I would get two because of all thesurface area that you have on your leathers. The price was about $3.59 a can so you cannot go wrong there. But first as stated before go to a actual motorcycle leather shop or someone who repairs leather stuff and find out what they have to protect you whites. Have fun and stay clean. Just only worry about one at a time. Peace Duane;.

Hoping to hear from you on the white leathers and cleaning of them. I would spot check them with that product first. Oh I think I said that already. Well what happened was... I got me a different pair of leathers for myself and sold the other pair to another guy to worry about. I am riding happy without a car but avoiding cages. Holla.
 
Just starting the season but they are still white so far - just picked up a can of protectant at the motorcycle shop where I bought the leathers - gonna check out the WalMart deal when that can's done.

So far so good though....but lack of bugs and heat so far make for a clean jacket...

My post to you was a facetious reply to your facetious comment...nothing more.

If you note, the title of this thread wasn't "How can I get rid of my white leathers for black ones" and I didn't care much for your useless reply. I wanted some advice on how to keep the white leathers that I have as white as possible.

So thanks...you can quietly exit my thread now 8-[

Anway, I wonder if Mink oil would help...? I have a Red/Black/White jacket I bought last year and was wondering the same thing you were... I guess I have to keep an eye on your thread.
 
Don't ever buy white gloves either, unless you have really clean grips. after just one short ride they are quite dirty looking.
 
Mink oil may discolor white leather... test it somewhere inconspicuous first!
