    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How do you grease wheel bearings?

I seemed to have developed a squeak up front and think it might be the wheel bearings. Low speed, intermittent. Is it possible to grease them?They look sealed.

If it is bearings, replace them. If they have reached the point of squeaking, they are already toast. I'd suspect something else though, like the speedo drive, or worn pads. Bearings that bad would be causing some interesting handling issues, I think.
 
I went for a ride last night and noticed the same thing after about 150km's. Stopped in Falher for fuel and noticed a soft chirping noise from the front wheel as I slowed down.

I checked the front bearings for temperature and found both sides cool to the touch, checked again in Valleyview and after I got home - still nice and cool.

It had kind of slipped my mind, but I'll bet Roger's got it - I'm going to lube up the speedo and see if that takes care of it.
 
This could also be caused by worn brake pads. Pull them out and take a look, it is very easy and quick to do.

Those would be the first two things I would look at, Billy.
 
Thanks guys. I just had 'er propped up and spun the wheel. Nothing.
I did check the head bearings for movement and found some. Now that is fixed.

Now I'm thinking it is the brakes.

Brake dust and heat...Both mine make noises depending on the temp and how dirty the brake calipers are.
Btw, the bearings are sealed...You simply change 'em out if they go bad.
 
After I clean the front brakes and a couple of hundred miles my front brakes sound like a couple of field mice screwing.:-D
Just clean the pads with brake cleaner if they are still good.
