For you drag racers out there that use a air shifter, Do you use the clutch at all or do you just back off the throttle a little before shifting into the next gear?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

PS wit most units, you can drive your bike normally as though the unit was not even there and ony use it when you want to.
Usually the piston that is attached from the frame to the shift lever is air activated and tied into a kill button or in most cases the horn button is used. It kills the ignition and activated the piston. There is an air tank mounted on the frame that you fill manually or with an optional on board compressor. The air is supplied through a valve that is also activated when the kill button is pressed.RacingJake said:

And you shouldn't have to blip the throttle or use the clutch, as the ignition kill does it all for you.

I shift my 1980 GS1000G without the clutch from 1st to 5th all the time, just a matter of the right RPM's to shift without grinding......One problem however, is if you don't get it all the way in gear with a good nudge you will find neutral in places you didn't think it should be.....Good, Bad or indifferent??? :roll:

All you do is nail the throttle wide open, and punch the shift button when you want (need!) to shift. Thats the idea of an air shifter, its saves the time of you throttling back and/or declutching to change gear. It may only be micro-seconds but that could be enough to lose the drag-race.
Also with todays technology you can set the shifter to change automatically at a set rev-point, or however you want. It might sound stupid but it is one less thing to worry about over the 1/4.
