DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

:D :D :D

:o Wow :o !! What kind of drill did you hook to your speedo cable to get those readings?

 did you have 19 front and 22 rear teeth?? how long did it take you to get it up to around 220MPH (354.0557Km/h)

LoL

About 30mph but it seemed a lot faster because me and the bike were sliding down the street beside each other.

According to the 1980 spec speedo, 85 mph. Beyond that speed, humans spontaneously combust.

You can add the '81 speedo to that. Anything faster and I just call it plaid.

Again, as I've stated in another thread. Phil, I ALWAYS obey the posted speed limit. That's it. So, my GS will do 60, as that is the highest posted speed limit I've come across.

Right Earl?  8) 8)

Ok, fun's over, I've been to 105, yet with my older tires. It started to wobble a bit. 8O
With my New tires, I've hit 100 and all was well, but I've no desire to go faster. I've had a bit of throttle left. I just don't really have the street to test it on.

:? 8)

Hey, this should be some kinda record.

This thread was originally started in '02 and the poster is gone?

Hmm.

I actually do obey the speed limits, But those open roads in lower Mississippi are just to inviting to stay at 55.
I can do that in 1st!

I had my '82 GS1100 EZ up to an indicated 200 kmph and it was still pulling! This is with a barn door windshield and my fat ass on the bike, ( 6'2", 270lbs) 8O

My '80 GS 1000G has an 85 mph speedo. It only goes 85. It's a fast 85, though.

82 1100ez yoshi kit 120 in 4th gear, ive only had the bike about 3 weeks so still building some trust issues heres a little hint if ya wanna go over 120 wear a helmet cheap sunglasses are not good my eyes were watering an it becomes very hard to see and breath. im 6 foot about 175, i believe these bikes will do 130 at least!!!!!!!

My 1983 GS 1100 ESD was just under 230 KM in 5th. It was still kind of pulling. Not at red line yet.

6th gear flat out a little above the red at 12000RPM, the speedo said 110... when you calculate the ratios it comes out to 111... in other words planty fast enough...

for now..

My GS750L's spedo goes to 140. I was flyin on it yesterday! I glanced down at my speed and it clearly read 22 mph. In other words, I was nearly going the legal limit for that stretch (25 mph). That's the fastest I've had it up to so far.

Seriously 8O

After finally getting the new clutch, tires, chain, pipe, jet kit, and K&N filter installed I just had to get the ol' bike out and let her rip. I got up to just over 150 on the interstate before I ran into some traffic and backed down. Didn't have much left from there so I can't imagine it'd go much faster.

My 1150 tachs out at something over 22 mph. :-)

First gear is unknown, second gear is atleast 80 at redline. If 22 is flyin' on a 750, becareful of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. They can be a real B*TCH   !
