If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How fast is is your old GS?

I have to apologize myself actually, I overreacted a bit, I had just gotten home from work and I was in "stress mode". It's just that I've talked on a lot of forums and had to deal with a lot a number throwing keyboard bashers who honestly don't know their ass from their elbows in real life (no I'm not insinuating any of you are lol)
I'm in a much better mood, Just got home from seeing "40 year old virgin" that movie was hilarious

He did say from the beginning that he was approximating. I won't hazard to guess at the accuracy of timing yourself while attempting 0-85 in five seconds.

What a weird measure, anyway. Why not go with 0-60 or 0-100?

Cuz my speedo only goes to 85 gahhhhhhhh! lol and I know when it hits it when I don't see the little white peg moving in my peripheral anymore, I'll be damned if I'm gonna try and look down at my speedo to see when I hit 60 8O :D

Allright! All friends again. :) Now could someone tell me how fast Earls lips can go in 3 seconds? :)
Does anyone have a lip-o-meter or a yakalyzer?

Boldsword, all I've said to anger you is I don't believe the '91 Notchback, equipped as you say, will do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds.
I don't know as much about Mustangs as you do, nor have I actually timed my '79 1000 with common mod's, but my bike quickly redlines at 60 in first gear/just hitting second and I have to believe it's right at or under 3 seconds. At least it feels that way. I remember from the late '70's/early'80's motorcycle mags that all the Japanese top guns ran right at or just under 3 seconds.
In the past I've read a few test drives on various exotic sports cars and the quickest of them was very close to 3 seconds or a hair over if I remember correctly. None of these production exotics were quite as quick as the bikes. Not 0-60.
My point is, the 0-60 reply had me immediately think to myself, "would that Notchback, as you described it, be dead even or even ahead of my 1000 at 3 seconds?" No, it wouldn't. So I don't believe it. That doesn't make me a bad guy or you either. It's a forum, so I just said what I believe. Please don't take it personal. :) :)

My mustang hit's 60 at the top of second, but you have to realize that with 4.10 gears I seldom use first(it maxes out at like 20 and is far to low to use with street tires unless conditions are just right) also in first gear going through rear gears the torque multiplication factor is a bit much, in first gear I'm hitting my tires with 4500lbs of torque(having more torque then the weight of your vehicle rocks), with slicks on the car it will actually wheelie in first (oh how I wish I had a picture of it) but my rear suspension is starting to rip out the the car, so I avoid that. I don't know how fast your bike is, so I couldn't say where we would stand, I don't know how my friends bike would compare but I race my buddies 84?honda v45 sabre 1100 whenever our paths cross and he has yet to show me his taillights, and his bike is his only transportation so it always well maintained..crap I gotta work on my network, I'll get back to this

LMAO. Uhhh, pm me if you want to borrow my Keithometer. I think it can be modified. :-)

Now what are you doing with a Keithometer Earl?? :? Trying to measure how wonderful you are? On mine, the darn scale doesn't go high enough. :)

Candy, flowers and a shovel are in the mail dearie. :-) :-)

Sounds like it's time for a match up 8O

Lets go to the track and see who can get to the 330 mark first. I'll even buy the hotdogs 8)

I'll even bring my 65 Falcon with a little 302, 12-1, 10inch 3000 stall, Vic Jr heads, 8inch slicks, 4.10's and just a 275 shot of nitrous. The last time I took her to the track the bucket seat ripped through the floor board and I was looking at the head liner at the starting line.

Or I can bring my Harley and we can see who can get there the slow'est :D

I'll bring my John Deere 45" cut tractor with the 1197 engine. :-) :-) :-)

my stang is all ripped apart lol, I mean, if you can sort out a way to keep the front end from coming near the ground (as I have the k-member and whole front suspension out) then lets go! But I don't think the track officials would be too keen on a car racing with no front tires

just a 275 shot of nitrous he says lol, yeah I had a similar seat experience in an 81 camaro, pretty damn annoying, sounds like a fun car though, my mom used to drag a falcon back in the late 60's

I'll race your harley with my polini 910 carena (pocket bike)

I'm a Blue Oval fan.

I went with the Falcon cause you don't see that many on the road.

You guys are sounding tough. I might have to break out the TW200, she'll blast down the 1/8 in 12 seconds.

:D :D Same here man, I love my Fords, and I love falcons, you're right you really don't see many at all, and it seems that (from what I have seen anyway) that they are often overlooked as a performance car, when they have some really great potential waiting to be unleashed. There are maybe 2 of them in my area, and I don't think they even move. I wanted to buy one recently, but I simply don't have anywhere to put more cars. Ah well, at least my girlfriend has good taste in cars and doesn't mind my obsession with them, though she does occasionaly give me crap about wanting to own every car I see =P~

80 GS550L- had her up to 80-85 a time or two but I was pretty scared to do more. It's twitchy as hell above 55 or 60. I save my car for going fast. 2000 VW Passat 1.8T 5-speed 150 hp, 131 mph before the ECU cuts the boost.

1980 GS1100ET. It's hard to find a place that's safe to go fast so I don't go over 120 MPH when running a handling test.

After some suspension tuning, my greatest concern at that speed is cops. The handling is straight and solid, no weaves. :)

79 GS550L .... had it up to 84 and was taching out at 6500 rpm. Could've gone faster, but I'd like to live a bit longer. 8O   I also had my daughters 88 Ninja 600c up to 95mph. Didn't feel as fast as it did on the GS, and got there alot quicker! :(

306 with no helmet

306 with no helmet

Hey ,At 306 click's and no helmet, at that speed it does not matter. And so what, Angelle Seeling (NHRA PRO Stock Bike World Champion, several years) Goes 190 MPH in a 1/4 mile. ( It was a Carburated 1200 Suzuki on gasoline) D/

Interesting thread. It's so funny there is always a few select individuals who's bikes (stock for stock) go 30 mph faster than everyone elses. I am curious how much drag the stock 630 oring chain causes. I am planning on swapping over to a 530 setup, but my current 630 is in good condition, and I want to drive the bike first stock to simply see how the overall gearing is. I tend to favor acceleration gearing vs. normal cruising gearing. I bet a low resistance X ring 530 chain is worth another 5ish mph on top end speed.

My Speed

With less rotating weight you should accelerate faster and maybe alittle more top end. How much... that's a good question??

I run the 630 chain just for piece of mind, but on a streetbike you're not WOT all the time with those skinny rear tire's 8O so it sounds like a good choice. For max pickup go with a non-Oring chain.
